Deano: What I WILL say is that "powerful copy" long or short is a PROVEN weapon when used well. Bada bing! Like an ace Deanorific puts in one line, what I've been trying to get to with this thread. I hope I haven't come off as suggesting that long copy doesn't work. What I believe is far more important that how long your copy is, as Deano said, is that you have the right message, for the right market, at the right time. The new copy I threw together on my site just this afternoon gets to the point of what I've found festival planners are looking for. Which brings me to something more important than strong copy... Be specific to your market. In business & websites - one size never fits all. Tailor it to your specific market. Heck if you've got one template you just REALLY love (like the one Ryan created for me. RJP ROCKS!) then hit godaddy.com, get different URL for each market. Then create a site specific to them. For all the years I've had trouble writing copy, when I finally picked and focused on one specific website, copywriting got so much easier. Anyhow, that's my rumblings. Enjoy. Robert Bloor

When somebody says "I use it because it works" I always think of Spam. That works very, very succesfully....but would you use it?

…and BINGO, there it is ladies and gentlemen:
It was commented: Quote:
"When somebody says "I use it because it works" I always think of Spam. That works very, very succesfully....but would you use it?" And the winning answer is NO, of course not, BUT we’ve kinda' already 'been there done that' on this thread already: Feel free to RE-READ: (Where it was said:) Quote:
"ASIDE: Once again, I hope that helps clear things up... Oh, and once again, Robert is dead on the money! (Funny how that happens! Hehehehe!) I am at your service and In HIS Service, Deano (Who READS Posts) in Reno <>< PS Oh, and who told you that SPAM actually works? Well done, effective e-mailing may produce measurable results, but all the information that I have heard says the “SPAM”, in fact is incredibly ineffective… eh’ who knows?

Sorry - I missed that post...although it took me a couple of posts to understand. So much bold and caps!
The point I was making is that their are many, many marketing techniques one might use. Spam being one, yellow pages being another and Long single web page another. I know people who refuse to advertise in YP because they think it degrades them as an 'artiste'. So when people state they have an aversion to this style of marketing it is often not because it works or doesn't work but because they just find it a bit annoying! |

Robert - my current website has gotten me the best results. It uses a lot of the characteristics of the single page website but toned down a bit. http://www.funnybones.com.au
