Hi guys,
I know this topic is about the "Jet Set" but.........I bought this about 6 months ago and am ABSOLUTLY thrilled with it!! I use it when I have an area large enough (sometimes we do shows in small living rooms) and during one of my weekly stage shows. It is made really well and sets up in minutes. Take a looksee......... **Economy Fixed Length Portable EZ-Up Backdrop Frame** http://magiccrafters.stores.yahoo.net/bacandframsu.html JIM |

Both the Jet-Set and the EZ-Up system (especially the latter) look very intriguing.
A concern I would have with both is I'd be afraid of tripping over the tripod bases. Has this happened to any of the owners? Rick

It looks like Magiccrafters is reselling the Amvona Photographic Backdrop stand or one very similar. (I posted this earlier in this same thread.) The Amvona sells for a lot less: http://www.amvona.com/v7/shop/?page=shop......_id=1830
Also, Amvona sells their products daily on eBay so you might be able to do even better than that. (I can't include links because that's against the Café rules.) Do a search on: MUSLIN PAPER BACKGROUND BACKDROP STAND SUPPORT. I have both photographic backdrop stands (not the Amvona unfortunately because I bought mine years ago) and the Jet Set. I am much more likely to trip over my Jet Set stand, and I have, because I use it in tighter quarters and the leg is in the middle of the drop. They don't stick out much but I forget that it's in the middle. (I've used the photo backdrop stands for more than 20 years.) Since I use the backdrop stands where I have more room, it's not much of a problem for me. Also, the stands are on the ends (12' apart) so I'm not likely to be walking over there. Michael |

O.K. here is what I did.....
I cut 2 pieces (about 18 inces each) of steel bar and slid them in the ends of each part of the 6 foot jet set that I bought. Slid 6 inches inside each end which leaves you 12 sticking out. Guess what? You know what a 8 foot backdrop! Hmmmmm! |

Sorry Jim. I've mentioned Amvona in a number of threads over the years but they don't always show up easily. (I used to photography professionally so I keep up with these kinds of products.)

Well gang,
I finally bought my first backdrop system (in the past I rented it for the BIG gigs). The system I bought was the one suggested by Michael and comes from Amvona. I won the ebay bidding for this new system at $69US, plus shipping (it was actually my very first purchase on ebay). This 9'7" high by 12 ft. wide system sells for $98 plus shipping when bought directly form their site. The shipping rate to Canada was $54US, so in the end, I may not have landed the best deal. Perhaps I should have (and could have) found a supplier of a similar quality system here in Canada. If this is the case, please do not tell me (I don't want to know!). In any case, I'm happy. The system looks really solid and compacts nicely for travelling. So I look forward to integrating this particular backdrop system into my holiday shows. All I need to do now is purchase some red velvet type Panne fabric and have it sewn to fit the cross bar. Thanks for everyone's input on this thread. Best wishes. Jonathan

Jonathon,
Congrats on your purchase of your backdrop system. It sounds wonderful and you will have to let us know how it goes for you. When you get your backdrop cloth sewn take a picture and let us see what it looks like. Kyle

Jonathon,
Congratulations on your purchase. If it suits your purpose, it is a good buy, even if you could have saved a buck or two. I use by 8' Jet Set and black/red backdrop a lot. Purchased some sparkly netting-type material. It is very light-weight and shows great on the black background. I used it outside for the first time last Saturday evening. Stayed up well and did not tip over. Hope you enjoy yours as much. I think it realy adds to a show. Max |

I got the one Michael is talking about off ebay for about $75, I think.
It's 10 feet accross and 8.5 feet high. I bought several sheets of crushed panne and had someone sew a channel into the top so it slides right onto the corssbar and it's great. I even bought a different colored panne for the center pieces so I could use it as an entrance. I'll be using it for the first time tomorrow, in fact.
