Are there any real good magic books or dvds on impromptu magic out there? I mean the kind of magic when you have NOTHING in your pockets, and have to borrow objects, or just use your body parts or your mind.

Hi Todd,

I believe that both Michael Ammar nd George Shindler have put out good books on this subject.

Best Regards.

Thanks, Jonathan. I have George Schindler's book, but I'm not impressed with the material. Which Ammar book are you referring to?
Raphlo2, I already searched several months back in this section and found nothing. Maybe you could be helpful and provide a link.

I don't know why I should do the work for you, but in any case.

Thank-you, ku7uk3. And thank-you for the links, raphlo2. That's what The Magic Café is about: Magicians helping Magicians who can't use the search function properly.

Todsky...

My favorites for this type of material are Dan Harlan's MINDBOGGLERS tapes/DVD Vol 1 to 4

Another useful source...Tom Mullica's Impromtu Magic 3-Volume set.

A lot of material on thse tapes is covered in Gardner's Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic, but it's good to see this stuff actually performed to get a feel for it.

Cheers,

Richard

Greg Wilson "On the Spot" is a popular one.

Here's what I think!

Books
1. Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic
2. Lifesavers

DVD
1. On the spot by Greg Wilson
2. Ultimate Impromptu Magic by Dan Harlan (not the biggest impact magic, but there are some 'neat' tricks in there)
3. Ghostbill by Andrew Mayne (just a single effect using money..totally impromptu)

Great suggestions! I hear Recap by Wilson is so good, it's worth the price of the On the Spot dvd.

Recap is truly great.
I've got the video about 2 weeks ago and I was very impressed
by greg's performance of the routine. I was familiar with the previous version
but recap is much better.
you should definetly look into it.

The "Jawdroppers" tapes (now in DVD - http://www.jawdroppers.com) are also an excellent source of easy-to-do impromptu magic.

Often, the effects in impromptu magic are rather weak. The fact that they are impromptu balance that. But the effects in Greg Wilson "On The Spot" are both strong and impromptu. To check absolutly!

Check out Miracle factory.org they are releasing an updated Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic by Martin Gardner.

Yes, I agree some what about searching any subject before asking a question, but also you should revisit a subject as things do change (as the above information proves) and new people bring new ideas and help.

I'd like to include Bruce Smith's "Great Handkerchief Tricks"
Even though it's not professionally written in length like most magic books, there are some pretty cool stuff in it. this is a cheap book which you can buy at normal bookshops
