RICHARD TURNER's unparalleled touch with a pack of 52 has been written about and featured on TV specials around the globe.
Mr. Turner does not do card tricks — he demonstrates the most difficult moves ever devised for cheating with cards. His life story will inspire, and his card show will make any gambler take up Scrabble. With his comedy partner Miss Guided, Richard has spoken to and performed for scores of CEO’s of large corporations, such as SBC, ARCO Chemical, USAA, and Southwest Airlines. He has entertained legions of celebrities including Muhammad Ali, Johnny Carson, Gene Kelly, and Bob Hope. He has spoken at events like The 42nd annual National Security Forum at the Air War College, DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), Bolen Air Force Base Washington DC, and the Maryland’s Governor’s Conference on Tourism. Recently Richard and Miss Guided appeared at WW White Elementary with special guest General Colin Powell, former Secretary of State. Because of their community involvement, the Turners have received many acknowledgements, including the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award and the Rotary Leadership Award as well being named honorary commanders in the US Air Force and honorary Naval Flight Officers. The topics of the Turners' programs are honesty, integrity, loyalty, perseverance, overcoming obstacles, and becoming the best. Born in San Diego, California in 1954, Richard Turner developed an early affinity for the stage, appearing in his first play at age nine. His life as a card mechanic began when he was seven years old — after watching the TV show Maverick, he wanted to be a world class card shark like James Garner's character. But at age nine, tragedy struck; a disease destroyed his retinas and blinded him. However, from this obstacle came opportunity, and Richard began to develop his mind and body. He started karate in 1971 under Master John Murphy, the United States founder of the Wa Do Kai system, a Japanese hard style. He has also trained in other Martial Art styles:
He has earned a Fifth Degree Black Belt in karate, hunted sharks, swung on the trapeze, designed and produced a series of educational games, and spent 10 to 20 hours a day over the course of 22 years developing his one-of-a-kind card show. All with the supposed limitation of vision four times lower than what is considered to be legally blind. Mr. Turner was trained and armed by the police department to protect himself from the many organized crime families who pursued him with offers in the millions to cheat. Traditional values mean something to Richard, and he has accepted none of these offers. He has chosen to succeed honestly. WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID: "A world class cardman and technician supreme, Richard Turner is the real deal! As one of the finest card technicians on the planet, Richard advances the science of card manipulation to heights never dreamed of" - Steve Forte "Technicians as a rule are not usually good actors or entertainers. Richard Turner is all three" - Ed Marlo "Having seen countless numbers of card experts execute for over eighty years, I consider Richard Turner to be by far the most skillful. He performs the most difficult moves with the greatest ease. He does things with cards that no one else in the world can do — no one" - Dai Vernon "They call me eagle eye Charlie; Charlie sees everything. I can’t see it, Kid — I can’t see it!" - Charlie Miller "In my opinion, the finest exponent of gambling sleight of hand that I have ever known" - Larry Jennings "There is no doubt. You are the best in the world with cards. You are their Master" - John Calvert "You deserve your reputation as the most skilled card cheater in the world. I don’t know of anyone as dedicated as you are" - Michael Skinner "You have our greatest admiration" - Siegfried and Roy "Among gamblers, men like Richard Turner are as much feared as they are respected" - Jack Palance, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! "It’s not hard to see why Richard Turner is regarded world-wide as the greatest card mechanic living or dead. It’s not easy to see what Richard does with the cards. He can shuffle the deck numerous times using various methods only to have the deck turn out in perfect numerical order. He can deal winning hands to any player a patron selects in a mock poker game. And don’t try your luck against him in Three Card Monte, you’ll never be able to follow the ace" - San Antonio Express News "He can deal a full house, four aces, whatever you want and make it look as if it were all a coincidence. He’ll even let you cut the deck, shuffle the cards, deal the hand and he’ll get a full house" - The Orlando Sentinel "Richard Turner has a feel for cards. Ask him to cut twenty-eight and he casually picks off exactly twenty-eight. It’s all done by feel" - Dallas Times Herald "They are remarkable hands. Hands any surgeon would be proud to affix to his or her wrists. Hands that unerringly pluck the aces from the deck and have made him one of the world’s greatest card dealers" - Los Angeles Times
"Always be you because nobody else can" - Steve Brooks
