Hi All,
As a few of you know I'm pretty computer illiterate, which is kind of funny considering the amount of time I'm on this stupid thing. Anyhow, I've completely redone my website and am looking for advice on increasing my Google ranking. www.jamiedgrant.com Any help is always appreciated! Thanx, Jamie D. Grant

1: Have your name in Text on the first page as well as your profession
2: Have links that are not java script- as in have normal HTML Links 3: Have a Site Map- in HTML 4: Have as many people linking to your site as possible- but more importantly- event web sites 5: Have about 200 words of text on the first page describing your work 6: I think you need more overall text on your site 7: Each page should have a different Title Here is what you currently have <title>Vancouver Magician Jamie D. Grant</title> <meta name="generator" content="Yahoo! SiteBuilder/2.3/1.5.0_01"> <meta name="author" content="Vancouver Magician Jamie D. Grant"> <meta name="keywords" content="Vancouver Magician Jamie D. Grant"> Even tho Google doesn't care much for keywords anymore- It is good to have for other search engines here is a link to a Advanced META Tag Generator ---all you have to do is fill it in and then click create http://javascript.internet.com/miscellan......tor.html then you copy and paste into the "head" of your site |

Wow, I think the design of your site is brilliant! Clean, clear, easy to navigate and not too much text. Do you mind telling us who designed it for you? I'd love to contact them and have them do mine!
I generally like the text, but some of it could use a bit of tweaking. For example, I don't like the quote on the contact page that says "I know it come be...". In addition to the typo in the first line, I think the text itself sounds strange and there is no reason for the quotation marks. I understand what you are trying to do, but it sounds more to me like you're saying "Please call me guys, I won't bite...honest!". To get the same idea across, I would write something like: Call now so we can discuss how I can make your special occasion a memorable event for everyone involved. And don't forget to have some playing cards handy so I can do a trick for you over the phone. You'll be amazed! Hope that helps! Carl |

Excellent job doing it yourself. Looks FAR better than most self-designed sites I've seen. Well done!

Thanks Vandy! I've put a lot of work into it my site and rankings etc but it still needs a little work.
PS - I'm glad I came in #1. I'm sure in six months someone will read this thread, test my ranking and find me at #467! |
