At the end of Lance Burton's Encounter (which for some reason slipped by me) while saying goodnite, he has a little bird cage with a fake bird. He covers it with a sheer hankercheif and it vanishes as he rubs his hands. Is this a commercial product?? I don't believe it is the disappearing birdcage that I know of. Thanks

Here's a link to the cage; it is very expensive: http://encoremagic.com/Products3.html Ron |

I think Chris at Encore made it and I know he has repaired a few times.

Is this the same routine explained by Tommy Wonder in his Books of Wonder and his videos Vision of Wonder?

NO... it is Billy McComb's handling. He taught it to Lance and the Encore version is McComb's.

Pete is right on the money. I have since found out that Lance primarily uses Owen's cages. They tend to be little stiff until you work them in.

Right, a pal of mine got an Owen cage and I told him to use it and use it and use it until it is "broken in" -- otherwise it is too slow. I think I still have one. I used to have about a dozen cages, mostly old German ones, some Rigid, some not. I even have a custom made Abbott one with the red ribbon that is about 4-inches across (for close up?).

No, it costs money because it is practically hand made and there are hundreds of pieces. Try buying a Martin cage. Here you are talking a couple of Thousand bucks or more.

Pete, Isn't another big part of the cost the "gimmic" and arn't all the slow-mo cages about 5" X 5" X 4"?

Most cages aren't sold with the working's, Billy's comes as a complete set. The Owen cages are made to last a lifetime and are not very expensive when you consider the quality.
I wish that I could convince James Riser to make me one of his Baby Lindy's... Oh well, a magician can dream>

I meant a big part of the cost the $1500.00 McComb Slow-motion Vanishing Bird Cage Complete, is the gimmic.

The gimmick is going to run you about $900+. There are not that many of them that were made by Encore. I know Owen also made a unit but I forget the price. I have an Encore unit, as new with full warranty, available if there is a need or interest.
Yes most cages are the size of the standard "lindhorst" cage. I think that is about 8" x 5" x 5". There are smaller cage available. I now James Dimarre uses a smaller one. I think Encore also makes two sizes of cages. Richard
