Who else in here besides me loves Kate Bush. I know most Americans have never heard of her, but I met two other pople who liked her in as many days last week, and that is just plain weird.
VH1 managed to list here as number 53 in the top 100 female performers list, and made me wonder, in a country that never hear of her, who the last 47 were.

I can get entirely lost in "Running up That Hill (A Deal With God)" - the 12" mix is even more hypnotic.

She did actually lock herself away and bcome a bit of a recluse for a long time.

Not bad at all...I was very happy to hear that her vocal qualities have not changed at all with age. Perhaps a little more depth to her voice if anything.
I like King of the Mountain and it seems to be more in line with what she has done in the past, but I really like Nocturne. Very soothing yet very sensual. My favourite album by her is still "The Dreaming". Very early on in her career, still trying to define her own type of uniqueness. It was great because at the time there were a lot of really experemental female artists coming onto the scene, and all from very different angles. Apart from Kate, my favourites would have been Nina Hagen (A Complete Madwoman!) and Laurie Anderson (Trippy Surrealist- Absolutely adore her to this day!) My most loved Kate Bush song of all time would have to be her duet with Peter Gabriel- Don't Give Up. I can make it through his parts no problem, but when she starts in it always brings a tear to my eye. Just a side note- Running Up That Hill fans...There is a cover of it done by a group called Placebo. Really not a blasphemously bad as I though it would be. Worth checking out. Gwyd, the Obscure 80's music God. No, really...Try me. |

Been a fan for years and love the new album.
Also had the pleasure of bumping (quite literally) into her in Newbury, England a few years ago. Mike
It's times like this I wish I'd listened to what my Grandad used to say...
