I'M looking to do a sword levitation outdoors in a ritual circle. I would like the sword to rise from the ground horizontally up to waist height then around my body. No stage and no platforms, just bare ground. Any help would be greatly appreciated
My mom says I'm reprehensible, I think I'm perfectly hensible.

That's a setting on your computer that needs to be changed. When you right click and are asked for a location to download to, just choose the location and the file type you are saving. The type should be a media file of some sort. Hope that helps, if not let me know.

Just change the extensions from the htm to mpeg. This will get you the video. That is what I had to do after I saved it to the computer. Enjoy!

There's an error in the main page. The name of the file is swordmpeg2mpg but you have to rename it into something like swordmpeg.mpg while saving it, then it will work with any media player you are using.

Sorry all, the PAYPAL buttons are now working.
I will go ahead and send each of you PM confirming the PAYPAL button is now working. As for the video, I am working on it. I knew I should have not have posted anything until all the bugs were worked out on my site, but I wanted to help EGREGOR with his needs. To end on a good note, here is a quote. LOOKS VERY MAGICAL AND IS VERY WELL MADE. Sean Bogunia |

Ok....no one has actually commented on Lance's effect, so....
I thought that the effect looked very convincing. I especially loved the hand flourish with the sword, followed by the release and ascension. Of course, only a magician would recognize the difficulty in rigging something to work that smoothly. (Wow, I managed to word that without tipping the method ) This is an effect that to me, should be brief in presentation - no longer than a minute. And then it should segue into another routine using the sword. Good work Lance! I hope that it sells well - should attract the attention of our younger anime' crowd here. |

Thanks Christopher Starr for the kind words on Sword Flight.
Actually the rigging is not difficult at all, it only took me 5 minutes to set up then I was good to go, real easy. I had a magician friend over and after he saw how Sword Flight was done he said - THERE IS NO WAY THAT SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THAT. I am hoping all who buy this effect will be pleasantly surprised where the gimmick is. Lance |

Hey Lance
That was one hell of a performance. It was absolutely smooth and its been a long time since I have seen a levitation performed so well. I have no clue how its done but is there any similarity between this and the Don Wayne floating ball in terms of rigging? I ask to know if its practical for a "no stage no platform" performance as requested by the first poster of this topic. Even if not this is a great looking effect. Congrats. |

Yes, the rigging is very different than Don Wayne's floating ball, unlike the ball the sword has a special gimmick in it so it works well with the lines and fly rig.
You can perform it outdoors and away from any stage but you need to have a solid object over head for the fly rig to attach to. This effect will be great on stage and can give the performer a Matrix, Highlander, House of Flying Daggers and a Japanese Anime feel. I will be working in Branson, Mo next week, when I get back I will be adding an option where you can get the instructional DVD and workshop plans for? Lance |

That was OUTSTANDING Lance,
The effect was great and new never expected that the control of the floating sword to be so precise. I love the effect but I hate the handling of floating object and I hope that this one is the first floating illusion that I am going to consider to be purchase. But before that I got Some question to be asked... 1) I know that it can be performed outdoor...Does wind causes one of the factor? 2) Can Tree branches known as a solid object over head ? Is that achievable ? 3) How difficult to set this up ? Mostly, I work solo. So this is important. 4) Does it require an assistant ? 5) Does the control of the levitation able to just move up and down or left and right or in all direction ? 6) If the control is done by the magician...Is it electronic ? 7) If its manual control by the magician...Can I do other stuff like walk about on the stage with audience participation or walk about on the stage ? Will this affect the levitation effect ? 8) How assure that this sword flight can be attain in outdoor ? (e.g Lighting) 9)For "SWORD FLIGHT" is there any restriction of setting up on stage size ? Another word whats the longest distance or biggest stage size that it able to handle. Sorry to ask so many questions, Lance. I just want to sure that this is the levitation stuff that I gonna buy and change my perspective on levitation. Thanks and hope to hear from you again. Regards Aaron |

Cupmagic, I will answer each question one at a time.
1. A strong wind will affect the swords handling. 2. Yes, a tree branch can be used, just hide the gimmick behind the tree branch. 3. The set up is easy, you will need to place the gimmick above where you're going to perform. 4. Yes, this will require one off stage assistant. 5. The main movement is up and down, a second assistant can be added to make it go left or right. 6. This is not electronic, it's controlled by a off stage assistant, there is nothing attached to you. 7. Its controlled by your assistant, yes you can walk all around, go into the audience if you want. With proper lighting you could have someone on stage, but that' something you need to test. 8. The Sword Flight will not look good in the sun light, you can do it at night, maybe by candle light, that could be cool. 9. You can put Sword Flight on any size stage, you can adjust the length of the lines. This is not a fly all over the place effect, its not a street magic effect either. Sword Flight will work best on stage or in a controlled setting. Thank you Lance |
