Hi, I'm trying to build my first illusion (tip over trunk) but I am concerned about the angles, when I look at the blue prints it seems like anyone who isn't directly infront of the box will see how it is done, I may just be 100% wrong, I've never actually seen it performed, any advice?

A tip-over trunk does have angle problems. You might want to look into a double tip over trunk. They overcome a lot of the angle issues.

I have never thought that the tip-over truck illusion was good. I have a very strong memory of seeing this performed about forty years ago when I was a very small child. It did not fool me then and I do not think that it fools very many people today.

Michael is correct a double trunk does solve the angle issues. I have made a small tabletop one and have used it on several occasions. It has always gone over well.

I tought the same thing about it. I thought the angles would be an issue. We worked up a fun little distraction. I was billed as a "special guest" and right as the show was about to begin it was announced that I was "called away" for work. That's where the vid picks up.

One of the things about the tip over trunk is that people often make the "gimmick" area the same width as the trunk, which will, of course cause the trouble you mentioned. Ideally a tip over trunk should be rather wide, and the "gimmick" not as wide as the trunk- UNLESS you do it very far upstage, block the site lines with a prop or cast member on each side downstage (the reason why often two people tip the trunk, one on each side) or use the double trunk... which looks really weird unless you justify it somehow.
Leaping Lizards!!! Who knew it was possible.
