Like many I have been caught in the Terry Herbert trap since I started childrens entertaining and using the magic words "wibbly wobbly". I know many others that use these magic words and quite simply want to get away fom that. What magic words can people think of that use my name (steve d) and are catchy for the kids. So far my best one is "diddley d steve d"
Any other ideas greatly appreciated |

I used bingo bongo for a while but it didn't get any laughs.
I also used (with the preface of telling the kids they had to repeat exactly what I say) Winglewanglefloppenshnifflehuppitydoodlybaabaabing but they didn't get that either and just argued that it was too long. I now use "Happy Birthday, ______". Which is a nice easy way of adding an extra the 'star of the show' bit and keeps everyone happy. I think having your name in the magic word is a good idea though, I know Billy Wiz and Stu-di-doo have good ones. What about: 123, Steve D ABC Steve D A wiggle from you and a wiggle from me, Do your magic Stevey D. George P.S.And for your coin work: Sleeve Me Steve D |

I actually rathr like this idea! "Oh, and by the way young ladies and gentlemen, My Name Is Magic too..... So whenever I ask you to say the magic words with me, I need you to yell out ' A B C- Stevie D!'
This would be a great catch phrase, people would remember your name, and if you register the domain name it would be a VERy well remembered web address for anyone who's been to your show. Invite the kids to go there for a free magic lesson, and now they will know you're name and web address by heart! Next time their parents want to know who to hire for a birthday show (if you do such things) They can just say www.ABCStevieD!
Leaping Lizards!!! Who knew it was possible.

I use the standards. Abracadabra, hocus-pocus. I find the kids come up with them when I ask for a magic word.
I think that using "Happy Birthday ____" is nice but none of the kids really think that those are magic words. |

At a birthday party I always use "Happy Birtdhay _______" The look on the birthday child is often priceless when he or she realizes his or her name is being used in such a special way. The parents always like this. and the other chlden get into it too once we practice a couple of times. To add some fun, I ask for the kids to come up with some magic words, and yes someone always says abracadabra. Then I use the old and very classic "Have a bananna?" plus a few others. This gets a great reaction from adults and kids and lets them know I'm going to play with them a bit.
In other types of shows I have tried using my stage name as the magic words, and I've tried the standards like abracabra, or purple puppy chow (ala David Ginn) and the reaction is never as good as when I'm doing a birthday and use the child's name.

I've used the standards, "Hocus Pocus" and "Abracadabra" (with the "Have a banana?" joke, sue me, they think it's funny! ), and then, near the end (this is with little kids), tell them I know some REAL magic words: "please" and "thank you". Then the big magic at the end happens.
