I just took a look at Rannie's one handed matrix. Amazing what you can do with a seance hand, shells and four magnets. And I am sure the cards were gaffed too.
Now, if I am wrong about my assumption then Rannie fooled the heck out of me too. LOL Really, You are quite a thinker my friend in Manila. Good natural movements and smooth execution. Love the way you think. You better take a trip to America and hang out in Dean's Shoppe one day. Great job, Dean |

Thanks Dean! I will definitely see you next year! I fly to L.A. onnce or twice a year. I have a place in San Diego as well as L.A. I have some ideas in mind and I would love to work it out with you! I need to get one of your Morgan sets and the 3CM. I'm still dreaming about them, and I do have some things in mind with those beauties.
Vinny, can't wait for you to come visit. If my hunch is right , I'll probably get there first. The Manila Famiglia is eager to meet you. Jocce, make sure you PM me if you have plans visiting Manila. I'll take you to my Tavern and meet my boys! Manila's finest! It should be fun! Thank you all. Rannie

Vinny,
I meant that to be tongue and cheek. I guess my humor is not working lately. I must work on my timing. Yes Rannie did a miracle. Dean |

Very pretty, Rannie. The execution was excellent, Ross Bertram would be proud. Pacing and timing were nice and brisk, and thank you for the "magic moment" before the assembly is revealed.
As to the contruction, I especially liked how you broke up the steals. One of the "tells" in Matrix, especially a one-handed one, is when the coins gather with the last coin covered. That can give the impression that you've simply dragged the coins along as they were covered. You've avoided that misimpression quite nicely. Thanks also for leaving a lot of space between the coins. Too many Matrix routines are done with the cards almost touching, which makes the whole effort a waste of time. Mabuhai! (is that how you spell it?)

Pretty close Curtis, pretty close! Its Mabuhay! I know that you bump into a "Pinoy" or Filipino every 30 seconds in Hawaii! LOL!
Thanks for watching! This means a lot to me as I have been working and still studying your works from Palms of Steel one up to the present! On a side note, let me tell you how much I enjoy performing (not a coin effect) your take on the Cannibal kings. Please send my warmest regards to Glenn Bailey! I'm sure you know him. I hope to meet up with you next year. I'll make sure I make a stop over. Rannie

I PMed Rannie with some of my feelings on this.
Rannie said that "This is just one of the phases in a sort routine I am developing." Why am I posting this? I personally feel that it's too direct and the path is followed too easily. Don't get me wrong. Rannie inspires me and I enjoy always his magic. Technically it was very well done but I can't see it as being used for as stand alone effect. His 'phase' would make a good kicker for other matrix routines or when asked for a repeat performance. I'd like to know if others feel the same as I do about this. Is it a good stand alone effect or not? |

Thanks for dropping me a line Jaz! You are absolutely correct in saying that it is too direct. I designed it this way because this was meant as the final blow in a full routine. I was never intended to be a stand alone effect. I am currently finishing the entire routine. Actually its more than a routine. It would be an entire act. It would be a combination of all the matrix, collectors, coins accross routines I have worked and developed all these years.
Thanks for the interest in my work. Rannie

Sounds great Rannie!
One reason I post that is because I felt that some newer magi might not have read or understood that it was just one phase of a routine. Thanks for your sharing and keep on keepin' on. |

I don't know... I have seen a lot of stand-alone effects that are much less than this. To add to it would be cool, but I think it has merit on it's own.
Whenever I see stuff like this it makes me wish I were better with coins.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.
