OK, I'm still very new here, but I've looked around the Café and was wondering if there was any sort of job search for the magic industry. Never see anything on Monster or careerbuilder, but someone must need help once in awhile. Any thoughts ?

It is rare to see a position like this ever posted. Craiglist.com will sometimes have a poster trying to cast a show or event.

I think a job board would be great.

Personally I have wanted to post job offerings for not just work in a show, but for work available in our illusion shop. We just hired someone off the street a few months ago, and I would have rathered offered the job to someone who had an interest in magic. I have also been in the need for graphic designers and web designers(in the past). I have also been in the need for testers of new products, and a variety of other small contract positions. so I think it might be a useful section.

I would probably take advantage of it posting job offers once in a while as they are needed. If there are others who would do the same thing, then it might be worth while.

And even if only jobs were posted once in a blue moon by different members, they could be priceless oppourtunities for some! Just a thought.

God I wish I lived in Canada Peter, I'd be knocking on your door, tool box in hand, within hours.

A jobs board sounds like a great idea. I bet there are a lot of magicians who can't get full time into their love because they don't see the opportunities that are out there. This would certainly open minds.

Ron, I think the web site is craigslist.com not craiglist.com. It's a listing of just about any topic you can think of and one of them is Jobs.

Gilgamesh-See that's what I would have rather done, Hired someone like you with a passion and enthusiasim for the job. I think a job board would prove very valuable to both the employer and applicants.
