Sorry - you can't fool me. I say the coins never existed.

Hey, I love the performance, technically it's great!! I'm going to play devil's advocate. In my opinion I never liked the "I'm going to place this coin in my left hand and close it, then wave over it like this." I think it could be summed up by saying "I take this coin over here and wave..." and it accomplishes the same thing. I know every performer is different but that's just my opinion. I think it's an awesome performance there is no flashing or anything is was flawless. the last thing is I also don't like the clink on your ring after the second vanish, but I understand that taking a ring off if it's a wedding ring is difficult by maybe you could toss on your palm to eliminate it. Once again I can't compliment enough but those are my two critiques. Very Well Done!!

It took me about 3-4 weeks of working on this. My wife was ready to kill me at one point from dropping coins hitting our hardwood floor! Now, it's not a problem. :}
No question this was one of the more difficult routines to get down smoothly, because I had never used the method before. It's now becoming one of the most requested routines I do. Well worth the work I put into it! |

Looks great. I am with Speedcuber, but have nothing but good things to say about what you shot; good job.

As someone who performs this routine as well, I have to say this was nicely done!

Yikes, I am going to be the first to offer criticism, but constructive criticism. After you place the first coin in the hand, you need to show your right hand empty before taking the two left hand coins. At first with the position of your fingers, I still thought you hadn't done a thing and that you were still holding out, just because you didn't show the hand empty. As for the second, agreed the clink of the coin on the ring didn't help, but I'm sure that doesn't happen everytime. As for the third, it was perfectly timed and executed. A more closer shot video might have helped as it was difficult to see the coins really, especially on the second vanish as the second vanish is the best, as it vanishes visually and audibally.

Christopher, thanks for your feedback! However, regarding the first vanish, not showing my hand empty is exactly what I wanted to do! I've found that it gets certain spectators thinking along those lines (that the coin is still in my right hand)and therefore NOT thinking about where else it could have gone. By flipping the coins up in the air when showing the 2 remaining coins, I've had spectators audibly gasp, because it's at that moment, their perceptions have been proven incorrect! I agree about the ring & coin talking, but at least it's a totally different sound and they can see it correspond to a single coin falling into my hand instead of two coins. Never once has a spectator (non-magician) been anything but astonished even with the coin occasionally striking my ring.
I should reshoot the video someday without all the backlight. That could help with the clarity. Thanks again for your comments everyone! I honestly take all your input and try to make my performance better. |
