Yes it was great, and my sister-in-law got it for me and I love her for it, but look at the posts above. I would never have time for some of the stuff people recieved.

I'll put you on my list if you will share some of that time with me. I only get about 5 hours a week to devote to this art, and I must be older than you because at that rate I think I would run out of time.

Maybe next year I need to give more obvious hints. Grrr!! It's ok though, I bought myself a copy of Daryl's Three Card Monte DVD. |

The Magic Santa got stuck in my chimney, since no one in my family bought me any magic. Maybe they intuitively knew that I played the part of Santa during the previous 12 months, and bought my own magic gifts. My mother-in-law gave me a sweater and some gardening gloves. Go figure. (I don't wear sweaters OR garden...)
Here's a few of my favorite finds: Framed certificate of thanks in Japanese to Blackstone Jr. from the Blackstone Estate Sale. RJ items: 52 Assistants and "On The Stem" posters, a signed copy of the "Journal of Anomalies" book. A bound set of The Phoenix. Through the kindness of an inventive and generous magician, I did receive a copy of one of the Frank Garcia books this year. (Note, it is a Japanese translation, all the better to keep secrets secret.) I'll stop there. It starts to sound like bragging. I guess my tastes run to the slightly off-beat. I don't have any of "the latest" tricks. I did sacrifice a couple of books and videos on-line, but 2002 has been a very magical year. Watch out 2003!

I treated myself to the Berglas book, although I haven't had time to read much of it yet (other than the Magic Squares routines, of course).

I got the Learned pig CD #1 and a promise for #2 as soon as its released on a seperate CD.(not the two on one cd special offer) Killer stuff on there.
Oh and a trip to vegas to see Copperfeild at the MGM. A great show, highly recomended. Missed Lances show across the street, but there will be other chances. Also missed Kevin James at Le Femme as my wife did not want to see the dancing girls. A very special trip that will be remembered for a long time.

I got my little magicians in training (my two kids) a magic trick each for their stockings... one got invisible zone and the other got "Chained" from Ickle Pickle. Fun stuff, both of them.
i received... 1. Transmental gemsation 2. Ball Thru Hand Both of the above are Viking products and are well made clever little tricks. 3. A Ching Ling box 4. Tricky Bowling Pins (Jay Leslies version with examinable tubes) 5. A few new decks of cards Mostly toys, you could say! GlenD

This year instead of getting me new effects, my wife gave me the complete 8 volume set of Tarbell. Been putting that off for many years. I guess I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the winter in front of the fireplace.

I got an interesting assortment of magic-related things for Christmas.
-2 spiral notebooks (for magic journals; the notebook I'm currently using has only five or six blank pages left) -2 fancy mechanical pencils (I know it's a weird gift, but I did ask for it; most of my pencils have either gotten broken, or mysteriously disappeared) -rubber cememt (for constructing double-backers and double-facers) And my big gift was The Dai Vernon Book of Magic (however, I'm studying Tarbell and wish to remain faithful; I guess it will have to wait) And of course I also got my usual few decks of bikes. The Magic Santa was good to me this year!

Yes... Carneycopia... the best magic book on earth. LOL At least in my opinion.

My lovely wife purchased a metal appearing cane for me. I cannot wait to use it in front of the children I perform for! Also, silks, dark card, Tarbell#4, and Abbott's Rope Encyclopedia. Christmas is fun!

It seems like many of us are blessed with wonderful wives! Mine not only bought various magic-related gifts for me but also arranged for relatives to give me such gifts too (amongst other things). Magic-wise, I received.
. Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic Book . The Magic of Michael Ammar (Book) . The Dai Vernon Book of Magic . 13 Steps to Mentalism . Twisted Sisters . Kickback . Diceman . Ted Lesley's Cabaret Magic DVD . PK Touches is on order apparently, so I've still got this to look forward to. . ....and her parents gave me a digital video camera specifically so I could record myself practising magic!!!! Generous? I think so! What is interesting is that she had asked me for ideas before Christmas and I gave her quite a lot then left her to her own devices.... Twisted Sisters was something I did not ask for and it is my favourite present!!!! I love it because it is so simple in concept but would I have been able to think of it myself? No way! I'm not a fan of gimmicked tricks, but I think this particular effect is very clever. Cheers all, Beetroot |
