Given that this thread has been running for some time may I suggest a research proposal/challenge...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Using the rule already mentioned by the OP we can get from TWISTED SISTERS to INVISIBLE DECK by inserting Svengali, a simple, one-step path from one to the other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's my research challenge.
1) Is there such a rich diversity of tricks/effects out there that it will always be a one-step process?
2) Or can somebody come up with a two-trick combination that will require a minimum of two or more steps..?
3) If the answer to 2) is YES, what is the largest number of steps, to get efficiently from one trick to the other, that you can come up with?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
by 'efficiently' I mean that you can't 'engineer' a longer path if a shorter one exists.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the FORCE Luke.

Puts me in mind of Fermat's Last Theorum. We can (fairly safely) assume that the answer to 1) is YES, but it is an ASSUMPTION.
