Hi,
For Christmas I received some money from my grandma and I was going to buy some magic items with the money. I already have a lot of videos and books so I'm looking for stunning effects, somewhat on the gimmicked side. Tell me if you think these effects are good. Thank you. In a flash - Jay Sankey Airtight - Jay Sankey Voxbox Misled Rising card Psychokinetic silverware All from penguinmagic.com . I also wanted the Watch Bandit but it would put me over my $100 budget. Ideas? Thank you. -Nappa |

I have "In a Flash" and I love it! I think it's well worth a look! Effective, clean finish, and has a great impact.
Good luck on your purchase.

Thanks William, but I have a question. When you burn the quarter and flash paper, do the cards that get burned through actually get destroyed? Because buying a new deck of cards everytime would suck. lol

No, lol. If you think about it awhile I'm sure you can figure out this trick. The cards can be used over and over again. It's one of those tricks that you still want even after you do figure it out. You've got some really cool ones there. May I also suggest, if you're looking into gimmicked tricks, a few of my favorites?
If you don't have them I like a Svengali deck, Healed and Sealed, Scotch and Soda (also ask Peter Marucci about his no gimmick version), Twisted Sisters, or NFW. You can find all of them on PenguinMagic and I think that they are all really cool.
On the other hand, you have different fingers.

nappa,
You don't use up a deck of cards too fast. It's really pretty nice. PM me if you need more information. Worth the money. -Casey |

Nappa,
No, you don't need a new deck each time you use it. I would caution that you don't do the effect every chance you get. It's something that the less you do it, the more "Wow!" it will have.

Twister Sisters is good, and so is B'wave. Blizzard is very good, while I don't like NFW very much. I also condemn (well not really) Healed and Sealed, while on the other hand S&S isn't worth buying when you have Peter Marucci's method (ungimmicked). Maybe buy a meteor paddle (www.hocus-pocus.com , with video clip of it). -Max

You condemn Healed and Sealed? I think it's pretty cool. I forgot about Blizzard, that definitely should be added.
EDIT: "It IS you from penguinmagic". Is that toward me? Yah this is Peedlkyle, a.k.a. Peedldude on PM.com.

Once you start looking into "gimmicked" effects, you get into the "I can't afford all of them but they all sound good" zone. Just buy whichever you like b/c they are are really cool and you'll be happy with your purchase either way.

It isn't impromtu, I'll agree on that. It looks great IF you're willing to prepare. Just sometimes you don't have a chance to.

Thanks guys. After I get my new tricks and videos I think I'll be ready to do some walking around at my grandparents' restaurant during lunches and stuff for some experience. Any tips for a young 15 year old magician performing at a bar/restaurant?

How about Bob Kohler's Aces in their faces? It is way too cool!

Another Bob Kohler effect you should check out is Black Envelope. This effect is amazing and includes routines for all skill levels. In my opinion, this one is a reputation maker!

I have both Airtight and Voxbox and both works great. When I use Airtight, everyone is asking how I pulled it out of the balloon for weeks. When I use Voxbox, I don't "reappear" the item until the very end. Works good.
