Hi,
I am looking for a book or DVD dealing with mathematical card magic for a beginner. Any suggestions? Thanks, John |

The first two chapters of "Mathematics, Magic and Mystery" are nothing but mathematical card tricks!
Most of the card tricks in "Scarne on Card Tricks" qualify, as well. Off the top of my head, Robert Neale's "Life, Death and Other Card Tricks" and many of the effects in Simon Aronson's books would work well, too. |

I'd second Scott's recommendation of "Scarne on Card Tricks". It was one of my first magic books, and it's full of great easy-to-learn, self-working, mathematically-based effects. After 25 years, I'm still pulling new tricks out of that book.

Check out Houdini's Affinity In Numbers out of Scarne's book. This is an awesome trick that utilizes cards and a simple mathematical equation that the performer uses to correctly name the spectators secret chosen card.
I've performed this trick for years in my children's shows and they love it. Adults like it too! Steve

I only know one mathmatical trick. It's pretty easy to do and works everytime.

Although it is not a book or a DVD the Mathematical Association of America has the following at their website:
