My nails are anealed (hardened), hand-made, absoulutly see through and not to mention fiber optic.
Fiber optic cable is made by stretching rods of glass into "strings". My nails transmit light better than anything out there, because they are truly FO grade glass. PM me if you have any questions. PS Nips, thanks for the support! Brett. "The Inventor of The Glass Blockhead Nail"

I performed this at the Blackpool magic convention this January.
Never done it for magi before. The reaction is even better than for lay people. I even had one guy ask me where I'd got the gimmicked nail. When I showed him it was real he commented on how good my switch was and asked where I'd ditched the gimmicked nail!!! So I did it again and let him pull it out. The guy freaked big time!! Although that may have been due to all the snot hanging off the nail... being Jan I had a bit of a cold Ah, the fun one can have with a long bit of metal!

Wow,
Just goes to show there is always something to learn. When I first thought about a clear nail (falsly thinking it to be a unique idea, I now realize) I considered glass to be too fragil and likely to be unsafe. So, having access to a lathe and some Acrylic rod I turned my own. Now, as I learn more from those who've already trod this path, I am given cause to reconsider... Thanks! And my favorite line, as I pass the nail out for inspection afterwards: "Someone always thinks it's a fake nail - but it's SNOT!" Brett, Look for a PM from em too. Steve |

I should add, I really need to agree with Nip on his points:
I have always been attentive to the softness of the plastic keeping it carefully wrapped when not in use, and to cleanliness by washing it after use. The issue of sterility is much better with Pyrex since minute scratches in the acrylic easily harbor bacteria. Even with attention to protecting the Acrylic from harm, microfine scratcher are easily evident everywhere. Yep... right on the money with every point... I'd have to say, Swami, go with Pyrex, I am. Even the idea of pounding glass in to my head sounds like a better effect. Thanks Nip, Steve |

Thanks,
May do that too. For now, my custom turned surgical grade stainless steel is working fine, well - it is a bit loose... maybe it's time for something a bit larger and I did loose connection with my material supply. Maybe... A Nice New Nips Nail in my Nose is Needed... Neat! Pondering... Steve |

My surgical steel nails are not turned on a lathe, rather they are hand forged with intense heat and precision hammering. The method is actually ancient, even used for crucifix nails used on a fellow a couple millenia ago. The heat treatment (called tempering) is used to keep the metal from being too brittle. Tempering does NOT harden steel, that would be the equivalent of slamming a door open.
