I am planning on doing a 15-30 minute show for about 20 kids, ages ranging from 5-12. So nothing TOO scary, but the tricks need to have a spooky theme.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks I'll check out the book. My time frame, however, is a bit short to buy a book and learn new material for a show in 10 days. Also, Gede's book seems to run toward the more adult themes -- this is a kids show for little ones.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

You need to drop down to the "Little Darlings" section and ask this question. They will have lots of ways to decorate your "same-old, same-old" tricks to look like Halloween Specials.

Well, as long as you're still here talking about human sacrifice, you might check out The Wizards' Journal #4, "The Monkey's Paw", or Wizards' Journal #6, "Poltergeist."

If you REALLY want to scare the "yell" out of them, try Wizards' Journal #9, "Bizarre Book" , or be more playful with Wizards Journal #10 and the "Tricky Treat Bag" or "Magic Milk Mortar Mix."

How about the old but venerable dried-up mummy's finger in a little box trick? Invite a kid up...then tell a story about how you came to possess this old mummified finger. If you really want to make points with the little buggers, have a bag of the boxes pre-made and hand them out, then give everyone 'a lesson in magic'! This trick was one of the first ones I learned from, I think, a book called Spooky Magic that I checked out from the library when I was but a wee bizarre creature.

You could change up the sponge balls routine and draw pumpkin faces on them with a sharpie.

Hippity Hop ghosts

Run Ghost Run (paint the rabbits in glow in the dark paint)

The Mummy Screen version of the Oriental 3 panel effect

Spirit messages from Caspar

Summon a Fire Demon...ooops... maybe not the last one

Seriously, think of your favourite 3 effects and figure out a ghostly way to present them versus buying something canned or boring... you'll enjoy it more and so will they.
