Nick,
Ha! You just might enjoy holding them too much to let 'em go by with that little use. They have a whole different vibe to them and it's pretty fun. Brad.

I'm looking forward to these. For a couple "spooky" card effects I use a ghost deck. I'm down to my last pack of Ghosts, and after seeing the Vintage series 1800 it looks like I won't be ordering Ghosts anymore. The presentational value of these for the aforementioned effects would be much greater and I believe this design raises much less suspicion than a Ghost Deck.

I agree with that. the grandfather idea is good. I also think of heirloom for instance. tons of applications. but working a lot with a deck (and thid deck has the potential for working alto with it) won't work if I have to pay a crazy price for a single deck.

I loved this card in the ellusionist Red Gaffed Deck. An entire deck of these would be cool to use to make up the necessary deck for Gaetan Bloom's 'Immortal' effect. Gives me chills to think about. God bless ellusionist for the way they are pushing the creative envelope, and providing tools for even further creativity. I'll admit I was a skeptic when they first appeared on the scene, but I'm a believer now. Great products, edgy marketing and presentations, well-thought out and detailed videos.

I have to disagree with the post that infers that a $7.99 deck is cost prohibitive. If I take my effects, make them that much visually stronger and book just 1 more show a year becuase of wowed spectators with the vintage deck, then I can by a whole of vintages.
Knowing what and where to spend money on in this business is a tricky subject.(Pun intended), But quality props that enhance my work is well worth it.

Even the box of the vintage Series 1800 is old...
For audiences used to seeing you use new cards (i.e. in the middle of a performance)... I don't think they really notice about the smoothness anymore... I mean come on!!!... How often do you see a deck of high quality OLD but AWESOME looking cards!! Hope that they shove in BOTH aces from the Normal and Masters Deck! Would be great to use for switches!! |

"The price is currently slated to be $5.99 a deck"
This amazes me, when you think of the time and effort it must have taken to create the artwork for this deck and actually produce it. That price seems more than reasonable (it's not like they are going to have the economies of scale that would come with selling hundreds of thousands of these, like a normal Bicycle deck). I think I'm starting to really love this ellusionist company... |

Merenkov,
I agree, I think $5.99 is an amazing price for these...the design on each card is different and each card was designed seperately. Imagine the presentational opportunities with these...I'm drooling... Nick |

I see the price being the only downfall to this product. I don't think I could afford to give out $5.99 cards much less have them signed, torn or burnt. Great idea though.

Brad,
I have a question; your website says "Coming January 1st", whereas November's M.U.M. magazine says "Coming December 1st". Which is it? Rick

Finally, a deck of cards that when they get old, worn and lose their nice finish, you don't have to throw away.
ps) I notice the Joker in the photo (M.U.M. magazine) actually looks burnt around the edges and I have a great idea for a comedy burnt card effect. Does the Joker really have a "burnt" illusion to it or does it just appear that way in this photo? Rick

But we do apologize for not being able to hit it. When looking at price, I was glad to see a few people in this thread realized the value of the deck at $5.99. Most people don't know that the majority of custom decks cost $10 and up (many at $20 and $30), but you can see it if you go to custom deck sites and look around. When you put the creativity into a deck, and step up to the plate to produce it, and take that risk, you deserve it. In addition, there is no way to order the quantity necessary to get the cards down to the price of a normal pack of Bikes, they run those in millions at USPC. We deliberately chose a thinner stock for these cards and not the usual Casino grade thicker paper. We want them to be as flimsy and 'distressed' as possible. They will be the thickness of a standard deck of Tally-Ho's. Thanks for the great comments guys. Brad.

I, for one am very impressed that ellusionist is working the design until they are happy and have it right. It would be to easy to try and rush the product out before the Holiday rush. Quality is always worth waiting for.... and this from a man who doesn't have patience as a virtue...
