I live in a condo and a bad neighbor just moved in.

On Saturdays he washes his car in our common driveway and grudgingly moves his car when I have to drive in and out; early on Saturdays he blabs on his cell phone outside of his garage so that everyone can hear, and he frequently parks his car outside of his garage so that I have to ring his doorbell to get him to move his car, again so I can drive in and out of my garage.

This morning, for the first time, he refused to move his car as he was washing it.

And my wife just told me that he's home all day during the week.

What should or could I do?

Sorry to hear about it.

Video tape and document his activity. I know it's rude and invasive, but.....

Do a trick that is so good that it makes him scream and run away.

You should send me an email so we can discuss this privately.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

I'm certainly not going to do that.

Since we live in a condo, I'm going to try to get the condo's homeowners' association rep talk to him first.

Stay tuned.

If the homeowners' association rep is no help, videotaping him is a good idea, thanks.

You need to go on offense instead of always being on defense. The next time his car is in the garage, move your car to the driveway... park it there and wait for your doorbell to ring. Answer the door with a sandwich in your hand. Tell him you will get to it after you are done eating and close the door. Sometimes you have to act like a jerk to deal with one... he might get the message.

Because he is mean and always home during the week, I suspect that he might be some type of criminal. He is definitely the type.

Yes, he did. We are discussing various legally acceptable options via PM's.

Document, document, document. Keep a notebook handy.

ATTEND condo assn. meetings - esp. the one where they take up your complaint. Of course, most condo assn's act on complaints without revealing exactly who complained - considering this neighbor's temper, you might need to "spin" your complaint to cover primarily the offenses that affect all your neighbors (then he can't say for sure whodunit).

Show him a card trick. If that does not work, show him two.

I just love how he is assumed to be on drugs or be some other kind of criminal based on the fact that he refuses to move his car and is home during the day.

He is not assumed to be on drugs, nor is he assumed to be a criminal. These ideas were presented so that all sane options might be considered. Nothing more, folks.

I used to think my neighbor was a drug dealer as he was home when I left for work, home when I got home, drove a nice car and always had a nice woman with him. He was about 35 and ALWAYS dressed real nice. After living next to him for a year he and I started talking and I asked him what he did for work and lo and behold he said he was a drug dealer...mailnly crack and herion.....JUST KIDDING, he acctually drove amtrack trains and left about 15 minutes after me and got home 1 hour before me. He once(and this was about 17 years ago) took me with him to work and I got to ride in the engine, pretty cool. Just beacause someone works different hours don't assume the worse.

Let the guy know what you do and explain you need to leave on weekends to go to "work" and sshow him a trick or two....if that does not work considor Particks offer.

I wouldn't immediately assume he was <on> drugs so much as I would suspect he might be <dealing> them!
