Mine arrived today & I'm glad I had the day off. While it IS an optical illusion, so is a top change & retention pass of a coin. The fingers being seen underneath the missing pen center are a convincer that it "isn't."
Needed is a magnifying lens the same shape and size of the Twister. These can be inexpensively obtained at a bookstore. Larger sheets of this can also be obtained and cut to the size of the Twister & this is the most economical way-although the credit card size ones are usually under a buck. Use the magnifier in a preceeding effect (I HIGHLY recommend Kenton Knepper's "Five Bill Miracle" from the Desert Brainstorm series)-even if you don't use that one, use it for SOMETHING, if only to magnify the pip on a card as a gag. You will also need a twisted key. The longer the key the better so the whole *** thing doesn't vanish during the twisting of the lens! SLOWLY put a slight twist in the center of an unneeded key using two pairs of pliers or a vise. ROUTINE: Take the TWISTER out of your wallet and state that you will use the "magnifier" one more time to Hypnotize the spec. Remove the twisted-center key off your key-ring and keep the center hidden by holding it in the center. Place it on the Spec's outstretched first two finger. Do the Mojo, and while they are examining the twist in the key at the end start to put the TWISTER away. Simply, DO put it away, and as an immediate after thought remove the magnifier lens that matches and say "You might as well keep this because when I snap my fingers your trance will be gone and this won't work anymore but please keep it and that bent key as a reminder of our little journey together" SNAP!

mindhunter I think this is a great idea that takes the effect out of the "Tenyo" league. I might even consider buying RT now...
How about preceding it with the haunted key (dupe) also? That way they've seen the key straight beforehand. It could also be a spoon I guess. You could even put the twist in during your routine. i.e. examined signed spoon is bent using your pk powers, straightened out again by hand, then the lens is brought out, RT with the spoon, the spec is left with a great souvenir. I don't know how feasible that is given that I don't actually own the lens! |

I was out in garage bending cutlery as you wrote this Andy! The Haunted key idea was my first choice but a "twist" in a round shaft doesn't really show. I broke several very old skeleton keys trying the idea. This principle was begging for an idea to leave them with EVERYTHING so they just don't think "very cool but it was just his MAGIC pen and lens".
I think my car key idea (which fits on your key ring) our cutlery idea {which could be borrowed and prepared under their noses if the cutlery borrowed isn't too expensive,} and the simple switch out of your wallet or pocket for an inexpensive magnifying lens fits the bill to some degree... any other ideas?

You could do it with a spoon too.

I think he is refering to the pen. It doesn't look like anything one would have. That is why a key, spoon, etc. with a twist would seem a little better. OR A HOTDOG WITH A SMALL BITE TAKEN OUT OF ONE SIDE NEAR THE MIDDLE!

hey folks
let's wait another two or three weeks until everybody has ordered his "Reality Twister"... I'm sure there will be a place where you can order a REALITY TWISTER GOURMET PEN for only $15.00 ...... Magic Chris |

It's Tenyo-ish cause it uses unnatural plastic props.

The silverware idea may sound good but I think it is anti-climactic. Silverware is best bent visibly in the open and in a participant's hands. The pen works because of its "secret".
The point of any of these presentations should be the event not the puzzle. Forcing the point to try and discover a give away of the props is reinforcing the trick aspect. There is a great option to put your business cards in the lens holder. I have them sign an oath to believe with their heart not their mind. It is on the back of my card. This brings my card and the pen into play, and it puts the lens at my fingertips. By stream lining the routine in this manner, you motivate the "props". Tom |

I received it this morning and have had loads of fun just playing with it.
anyhow, if anyone knows of a source for purchasing just the lens material please PM me as I want to try making something that should be very neat but I need material larger than is provided in RT... |

I think the thing is that, one should try and use the pen even before the trick, so that the audience gets accustomed to it. This should be done cleverly and not in an obvious way. What I want to say is that you do not need a parker to do this. A normal cheap pen is ok too. I haven't received it yet, but I am already planning how to use it.
My friends at University always want me to show them something. I will put the pen in my pencil case and use it for a week or two during the lectures. Then when I feel is the right time, I go with the RT. Although I have to say that the key and the other ideas are clever and will work great too and everyone has to go with what he feels comfortable with. Ivan P.S. It would be great to discuss the different objects that could be twisted in the middle to use in this effect. This would also allow you to repeat the RT with the same people with different objects. That would prove that it works with everything. And the switching of the lens is clever, Mindhunter.

Ivan |

Thanks. The magnifying lenses look the same as RT lens, and they are cheap enough to give away at the end. Knepper's "Five Bill Miracle" is a strong impromptu routine I perform all the time so the magnifying lens has already been in play.

It’s cool to hear some of the various comments (both positive and negative. We learn from constructive criticism) suggests, ideas, etc. with Reality Twister.
There are several posts going on on this board, (ex. review section, another post by me in this same section, etc.) so I am putting this here so as not to get lost in the shuffle. Paul and I have been looking at the posts and ideas. Since it’s release, Reality Twister has REALLY caught on for those who have purchased it. There have been LOTS of very interesting ideas already starting to be worked on, based on Reality Twister besides those posted here. Many people have started to play with it and have already created some terrific ideas... some using props other than the pen, some with cool additions to the pen, some wonderful handling tips, etc. Paul Harris himself has developed several additional VERY, VERY good ideas. A few of Paul's friends have already submitted some great ideas. Paul is planning on putting out a booklet featuring some of the various ideas he and his friends have come up with. If you’d like to possibly be part of this, we’d love to hear from you! If you have new routines, handlings, offshoots, tips, etc. that we should consider for possible inclusion in the Reality Twister booklet, please e-mail them to me directly. (TIMTRONO@aol.com) I will then forward the ideas to Paul. Any submissions will be kept in absolute strict confidence. No ideas will be used until we receive your final permission, once the booklet shapes up and we discuss it with you further. Please also ensure you describe the ideas in as much detail as possible. Also ensure to include your FULL contact information (name, phone, etc.) so we can get in touch with you. Paul and I are looking forward to hearing some of your ideas with Reality Twister. I just spoke with Paul and he told me about one idea that I will immediately start using… it is SO cool. Tim Trono |
