Todd, tell us how you REALLY feel. I guess there's no shortage of bird cage liner at the Robbins' household.

Snotty is a good word, though it's only a reflection of a larger social attitude. (And we do blockhead...we lick our snot...HaHaHaaaa!)
Non-kinkers don't understand the structure of kinker society, so they tend to lump us together in one group, with ride operators and canvasmen. I'm not busting on ride operators and canvasmen here, only making a point. We live in a culture that hasn't yet recovered from all the negative effects of our puritan forebears, and the Times is just one of those reflections. I've been told, many times, that many people are surprised that I could even have finished junior high school. Usually, I have more degrees than those folks who make such ignorant comments. But they're often so proud, that they're being so tolerant, that they could come to my show. This is one of the things I like about performing in Europe. Their concept of art includes folks like us. It's not just what's appearing now, at the Metropolitan Museum, or the Metropolitan Opera. I like opera a lot, but I have to admit, Todd, I'd rather watch you any day. There was a study, a few years ago, that found that people who wore ties, had significantly restricted blood supply to their brains. Maybe that explains it. Diminished O2...diminished intelligence. Oops! I'm being snotty.

Just a short post script, "THE LAST SIDESHOW"!
I've been reading "THE LAST SIDESHOW" every year as far back as I can remember, there will always be performance on the midway. Every year we will continue to read it's "THE LAST SIDESHOW".

The thing that surprises me, about the article, is that it doesn't announce Ward's retirement tour!
It would have been nice to see an article that would give the readers a bit of the dream that we live. I wonder if perhaps, there are few people who can capture our passion in words, and so they just write about crass realities.

Ward Hall doesn't advertise each year as a "farewell tour" because he wants to let Barbra Streisand hold the world's record for farewell tours.

Ward told me that "retirement for him was more work than being on the road".
I know that when they framed their lastest WOW for Gary and he returned to his job on the ship. Ward and Chris took the show over, Ward said they would have to work for a few more years to pay their investment off. Once it's in your blood, it's always in the blood.

I couldn't agree more with Todd's assessment of the Times..In my opinion,Sideshows of one kind or another will be with us for a long time to come..formats, performers, zbits, etc. may change but the Sideshow will continue. The Sideshow is dead! Long live the Sideshow..
all the best, John |

Good grief that last sentence nails it! Bing bang zoom! The Times has been a pizz poor paper since I was a kid. Lefty Agenda ridden puppy training material. Snotty is the perfect word. Thanks Todd for digging it out. (pun intended)
