Character blending with the right props is the most difficult thing to obtain. The props are secondary, but MUST fit the character at the same time. I would do very well with the O.O.P.S. machine, and I am not favoring one over the other here. I am simply passing on knowledge that the Wiz-Kote and O.O.P.S. have the same outcome, but two different characters. Wiz-Kote includes blinking lights, alarms, smoke, and a polished look, while O.O.P.S. has a comedic, homemade look. Everyone should be aware of the differences before buying. That's my only point. |

Since you make it yourself, the O.O.P.S. machine is capable of looking exactly like a Wiz Kote machine, if that's the effect the builder decides to give it and has the skills to pull it off.
The difference between the two is: You can buy a Wiz Kote machine ready made, but it looks like every other Wiz Kote machine manufactured and costs in the hundreds of dollar range. Wolf's will fall in that category, too, if he ever gets it finished. You can't buy an O.O.P.S. machine ready made. You have to make it yourself. Cost: about a week-end of your time and no more than $20 in materials - and that's for the ultra, deluxe, fancy version. The home-made looking version costs a lot less.

"Why wait for Wolf's version that everyone will own?! "
EVERYONE?!! Only in a perfect world...as that would make me a very rich man. I am with all you guys on this topic. Whether the O.O.P.S. Machine or a contrived Wacky Wiz-Kote, it is all how you play it with your character in the end. Both versions have strengths and very little weaknesses. So either way ya slice the cake...it still tastes good. OK...so it's taking me forever to get to this project. Well, I can say the wait is getting closer to being over. I finished a refurbishment of an Original Chalet Wiz-Kote for a good customer of mine. It came out so spiffy that I think it is time to dive into this and create the final version, which will be very close to the one shown at this link with the exception of a few changes that will only make it even Wackier! This link will give you an idea as to the direction I am going, but it is not the final design. http://www.wolfsmagic.com/Wacky%20Wiz-Kote.htm I decided to stick with the original, basic workings, etc. VS. the REALLY WILD version I was designing, as it turned out to be too expensive and out of reach for the average customer's budget. Enjoy, Chance Wolf's Magic

WOW! As many of you know, I'm a big fan of Wolf's Magic, and the picture of the machine on Chance's link (above) immediately convinces me I want one! See, while the kids may find the routine very funny with an old cardboard box, Chance's prop screams "cartoon" like most of his work. I had considered making my own Wiz-Kote to use until the Wolf's Magic version appears, but with any luck, Chance will put this item out fairly soon?
So a bunch of other magicians use the same prop? Well, I own the vast majority of Wolf's Magic products (for kids), and NO ONE in my area has ANY of these props. I think if ALL the other magicians were using Wolf's props, it might make me rethink my shows. But in reality, Wolf's line is still quite rare, at least in the UK. As to the cost of the machine, well, I find I need to spend a fair few dollars on new props every year for tax reasons. Otherwise, I'll just be handing the money to Gordon Brown (Chancellor of the Exchequer, for you guys in the US). BTW, Chance, I'm presuming this will be a one-man effect, is that right? Some versions of Wiz-Kote require an assistant. Also, if there were a couple of places to attach things like water squirters, funken rings, etc., it would be cool. That way we could customise the prop ourselves (like I did with KaBlammo) |

Thanks, guys! Much appreciated.
Potty, You asked if this would be a "One Man effect". Actually, the model you see in the pic, as well as the one I chose to build, will probably be the same as the original in method and workings. So it will require an assistant, but not necessarily, as I was told of a pretty cool one man handling of the original. I will include it in the instructions. Like I stated before, I DO have a One Man method with a brand new completely different method, look/design, and plot. However, it is just too darn expensive to make. I will get to it someday, but it will take time to develop, and due to price, would have limited sales. On another note, you are right regarding my props being relatively exclusive, even in the USA. We have been in business for a bit over 4 years. In that time, our best seller, the ABC GUMBALL RECOMBOBULATOR has sold less than 200 units. Deduct 30% of those to overseas sales, and that leaves you with only 140 units within the USA. Deduct the Collectors, who do not perform or on rare occasions, and that might knock it down to 120 units in use at most. Compare that to the "Standard" magic which literally 1000's of units have been made and sold...I think it's pretty safe to say you have a near exclusive act within your area. We plan to go into production on the Wacky Wiz-Kote after the Chicken Swords are complete! Thanks again for the kind words, Chance

Chance,
Your Wiz-Kote does look amazing, and kids will love the prop. I would be interested more in the one-man version, even if it will be expensive! Potty, I admit that wolf's props are pretty rare in the UK, but I still stand on the fact it's all in your character, and kids, if the routine is funny enough, don't care if you use a super-duper, flash lookin' prop or cardboard box! However, Chance's prop is so nice, I might change my mind and buy one when it's available! LOL Any time-line on this prop, Chance? |

Chance,
Count me in on the one-man version. I know the quality of your routines and props, and know they pay for themselves. Dan. |

Chance,
Count me in for the one man effect, as well. I rarely have someone with me when I perform, so I definitely would spring for the extra cost of the one man version vs. the assistant version. Thanks, Ken |

I agree, Chance's prop looks absolutely fantastic, as do all his items. I don't own any of his stuff yet, but I'm awaiting arrival of my Water Wheel. I'm on the list for the Chicken Sword, so I'm sure I'll soon be a big fan of his, too!! I think both the O.O.P.S. machine and Wiz Kote are fantastic, so whichever you go for, you can't lose!!
I've already decided that my vent puppet, Charlie, will be the one who 'built' the O.O.P.S. machine - the fact that it will look so shabby and stand out like a sore thumb among my other props will make it more funny! Charlie will be with me for the unveiling of the machine, and maybe will direct me from his trunk in how I should operate it. Then, he'll blame me for burning the shoe!! I get more excited about this routine by the minute!!

Ever since I first heard of Wiz-Kote, it's been in the back of my mind what a great routine this is! Even though I now have two mortgages to pay, I will gladly find the extra dollars for a deluxe one-man version made by Chance Wolf.
It seems to me the machine definitely needs a flash-pot, probably some kind of sound effect (or at least a noisy mechanism that the kid could operate). A couple of bolts sticking out to attach a funken ring and a water squirter would be good, too. Of course, this is your project, Chance, but I thought I'd mention these things. Naturally, it's always possible to add lots of effects to any prop. My KaBlammo now has two funken rings, a squirter, old style bicycle horn, and a snow cannon on top! |

Hey, gang!
The Wacky Wiz Kote, "Sonic Shoe Shine", you see in Chance's link was custom made for me...and let me tell you, it is amazing! I sent Chance a quite-used, original Chalet Wiz Kote, and said "Wolf-It-Out" for me. The pic you see is the final result, and I couldn't be happier! I am glad he has decided to put his version on the market soon. I realize I am the envy of most of you. All I can say is ... "Na Na Na Na Boo Boo"! Doug |

Wow,
I posted the original post a few days ago with no replies. I look today, and it's 2 pages. Then I realized why it's two pages, Chance showed you the picture. This is classic Wolf style; very wacky, very cool, and in a great color scheme. I have been begging Chance to do this effect since I first laid eyes on my custom ABC, and it's a perfect fit. Glad to be on the reserve list, I believe I'm first in line!! Looks good, Chance, can't wait to see the final version that you sell. Keith
