Is there an easy way to tie a fake overhand knot?

Hi comedy writer
Aldo Colombini's "knotty Knot" Aldo will teach you how to do the one handed fake over hand knot with either hand.

There are plenty of fake knots, you should decide what properties you want this fake knot to have.

You go back and forth the same way you went in and out. . . In and out at the same you as you went back and forth. . .

Aldo also explains the one handed knot, and another fake knot in his "The Essential Aldo Colombini" DVD set.

The one handed knot is in his "Probably Knot" routine. I think he teaches the other one in his "Ringing Around".

Try searching in "Abbott's Encyclopedia of Rope Magic."

I will try my best to give you several answers you can REALLY USE. In Abbott's encyclopedia of rope magic it is called Ralph Hull's famous vanishing knot on page 27 & 28, but Mr. Hull does it with two hands, Abbott has poor drawings of it, and an equally confusing explination to go with those drawings. In the Stewart James encyclopedia of rope tricks the Ralph Hull vanishing knot can be found on pages 203, 204, and 205, but If you really want to learn how to execute this one handed knot with either hand I suggest you stick with Aldo Colombini. He also uses this one handed false knot in his knottsy knot routine. It can also be found in Daryl's expert rope magic 3 DVD set on volume 1. Now if you are talking about the Hunter bow knot then that my friend is a whole nother question. I get the feeling this is the kind of answer you had in mind.

The other fake knot that you refered to is the same Ralph Hull vanishing knot, it's just handeled differently.

Al

You're starting to sound like me Smile

I'll have to check out Daryl's dvd for that one-handed knot. I don't remember seeing it there.

Perhaps I have been unclear. The knot is in all the places that I refered to, but only Aldo, and also Flip do the one handed version. I knew what I was thinking, but my mouth is not always able to explain what my minds eye see's. It is hard to pull the wool over your eyes John.

When it comes to rope magic I did learn thoroughness from you.

I think the best resource for false knots is Abbott's Encyclopedia and Daryl's Rope magic made easy

Comedy Writer,

Have you tried the method in the instructions for the Knots-Off silk from DoveLite?

It appears that this is a tough one to learn for many magicians. Doing this with a square silk is even harder than it is with rope.

In every silk lecture I try to demonstrate tying a slip knot in a silk. Once you've got it you'll find it is a very useful tool for lots of magic. It is actually easier to do in a 36" silk than it is to do in a 24" silk.

Technically speaking, Aldo discusses a couple of different false knots on his "Roped In" video.
His face isn't really this long in-person!

I like using the Hunter Bow knot. It may not be easy at first but like anything else with practice it plays well. What I really like is I think it looks much better than most fake knots.

Should be able to find this in a number of different sources.

I have one word that should sum it all up for you. Tabary! He is the man when it comes to doing rope magic. I have both volume 1 and 2 of his videos and can't believe how amazing his rope magic is. Also, how good he breaks it down for you to learn it. False Knots, ring on rope, many variations to the cut and restored rope... it's all in there. I highly recommend his videos to anyone.

I do the one that Daryl teaches on his DVD. I fool everyone, every time. This is the only one I ever use.
