Has anyone seen this type of fire display before? I'm curious about it's history........Harley?

Interesting. I've never seen this before, but there are a number of things I notice.

Several times, he brushes his hair with his hand, putting out fire.

He shifts position, keeping the fire underneath his robe. One arm is wrapped in his robe.

They mention that it smells like ghee. (Ghee, clarified butter, has the fats removed, so only oils are left. It allows things to be cooked at a higher temperature, without burning.)

I can make some educated guesses, but won't in open forum. I think I could duplicate it.

Is that a Columbian red tail?
That is a beautiful snake...Two headed or not. At least one of the heads was doing a decent amount of tongue flicking...The right. Is that the one that does the feeding? Does it have to be force fed or does it do it on its own.
And I would have a bajillion more questions...Great find T!

Gwyd, it is a Columbian Red Tail Boa. The right head is the dominant head...the other one is connected so close, that it doesn't have as much movement. The right head is also the only one that has eaten yet. Have you owned a boa before?

I have owned several smaller boas and pythons and handled/cared for various others when I worked at a zoo. I have a dumerlis boa right now (kind of high maintenance compared to a red tail) and just completed the cage for a albino burmese I am picking up tonight.
The one you really want to talk to is the fellow who helped me with the requirements for the Burmese- Pete Koloz...He is the real snake guru.
I'm pretty good...He's the best.

So far so good with these guys.....can you PM me Pete's info? I've been keeping them between 85-90 degrees with as much humidity as possible.

And make sure it has a temperature gradient- The warm end of the tank should be 90-95 degrees, the cool end between 80-89. It needs to be able to move between the two to regulate its temp. At night the temp can drop, but not below 80.
Don't get the humidity too high as this can cause scale rot and other unpleasant things- 50-60% should be good and give them something large enough to soak in as well.
At it's current size I would not give it a huge tank. Too much space can stress out a juvenile. A 20 gallon long tank would be just about right.
Those are the basics.
I'll help any way I can!

Also be careful that when soaking, the less dominant head is not held under water.

Thanks Gwyd. That's right Doug...I've had to watch them when they're drinking water because the less dominant head goes under sometimes.

I would add be careful when feeding him ---- make sure the other head don't bite you when you are feeding the other other one!

But then what the hell do I know about snakes ..... erm well - they are slimey - all have a venomous bite, all grow to be 2000 foot long - oh and they eat at one end and crap at the other!

Well it looks like I know squat! well one out of three aint bad! (its rubbish!)

Oh and I know hes very very cute! (in a strange sideshow kinda way! Smile )

Dave, with our Two Headed Kingsnakes, they sometimes try to attack each other for food. I've had situations where one was eating and the other head tried to swallow the eating head......I thought it was going to damage the other one's eyeballs!! Once, both heads got a mouse each and tried to swallow at the same time...they almost choked to death.....I had to pull one mouse out. It is nerve racking trying to take good care of them, especially when it's the only one of it's kind. But, it is amazing to see them all the time.......The World is definitely a Strange Place and it's getting Stranger everyday Smile
