Uhhh.... yeah, did you actually READ what people are saying about this? That they've never seen it nor been able to do it. "lots of people".... you mean two or three? Out of the 6+ billion people on the planet? What can you do?

Well Nipps anyone who would try to downcry anothers stunt such as this must at least be capable of talking out of their own @ss. Which I suppose could be classed as an achievement as well !

I'm not downplaying anyone's stunt. T-ray was really going out and asking for a responce to his posts. So I responded that it's not the second time its ever been done, Murrugan didn't invent it, nor did Dan Meyer. Its not often done, and it looks really cool, but I've seen videos of it before by a few people and heard of a few more who have done it. That's all I was saying. I was responding to T-Ray's plea for a responce asking if anyone's heard of it, and I said that I have indeed heard of people doing this before. Its rare enough that you could claim to an audience that you're the only one who's ever done it and they'd for the most part believe you and be amazed, but on the magic Café where its supposed to be people out there who do these stunts, its been done before. that's all.

Who did invent it then? I heard that Dan Meyer was the first to do it. Either way, there are very few in the World who would even consider this stunt. Oddity Prodigy, I can't wait to reveal Murrungun's most Dangerous stunt ever!!! Even you will have to give it up for this one.......but that's a little down the road. By the way, have you come up with any new stunts/routine's recently? I'm not sure who you are, but if you are who I think you are Smile I know you do some cool things too. Keep us posted on the limits you are pushing....I love hearing about and seeing the next level.

Dan came up with it, and we had a discussion about how long it would be, before other swallowers were copying it. I figured it'd be about a week after it first aired on AGT. Dan was more generous in his estimate.

Prior similar performances involved first swallowing a sheath.

OdProd, are you sure you aren't confusing a flaming pommel, which is pretty common, with what they are speaking of? To be more clear I think what they are talking about is an entire flaming blade, and not just the pommel.

I'm not taking anything away from anyone. It's a great stunt, and Dan Meyer is a great sword swallower. Murrugan gets a lot of work cause he goes out and busts his butt everywhere he can. The stunt and the people who do it are fun to watch. I don't think Dan invented it, I thought I've heard of it before, I could be wrong, but if Dan was the first then Murrugan is not the second because as I said, I've seen people do it in youtube vids, and heard of people doing it as well.
But if he's got a routine that's fun, and he likes to swallow flaming swords, he should keep on doing it because who cares if he's the 2nd or 200th person to do it, chances are the audience hasn't seen it before and they will like it.

Murrugun The Mystic is definitely a Sideshow Soldier........He is ready to go to War at the drop of a dime. I helped introduce him to the Sideshow World at large (after our mutual friend, Mr. George The Giant, told me about an Amazing Sword Swallower that had blown his mind).....He was just doing this stuff for fun Smile I said it then and I'll say it again.......he is one of the BEST EVER......and RAW to the core. I also have to mention our mutual friend Mr. Brett Loudermilk AKA. The Freak Prodigy.......Brett is also working on a stunt/routine that is going to be F#%@&^ phenomenal!!! He's going to get rich off of this one act.......AND he has another surprise up his sleeve which will be seen Very Soon. His performance skills are super sharp from working the grind at the Freakshow......so give that kid a minute and you better Watch Out Smile These gentlemen and many others (ladies included) are Keeping it Alive and for some of us, this is the coolest $H1t ever. OddityProdigy...keep on pushing yourself.....send us some videos so we can get hyped on your skills....for real.

My humble apologies,,,I could have sworn that I read here "Like everything else lots of people have done this before" !

I really must go to Specsavers.

Surfice to say that I havn`t and would like to see a vid of this,,,also the extreme stunts do have a place in our work but not in the working performers world. As a living it would be stupidity to risk ones being to the extreme at each performance when performing 12 times daily.

Yes, Dan DID invent it (along with some other things he requested me to not divulge here, but suffice it to say what I am making for Dan hasn't been done in over a century.

Wait, so let me get this right.... if I say I am the only person in the world who can lift 70 pounds with nipples or tow a car with nipples... I say this to my audience and its okay.... I say it here and because it's "people who do these stunts" it's open to debate? Regardless of the fact that it is the truth? Eric/JS/whoever oddprod is..... stop it. You have nothing to push to any limit. Your name will not be in the Guinness book, Ripleys, or any book as long as you keep up your charade and bad attitude. So why don't you actually show some respect to the people who can do things you cannot, instead of showing your fascination by insulting them.

Ken, you are right about the danger......these extreme stunts can only be done once in a while. I'll never forget when Murrugun was swallowing 6 real full sized swords at one of our club dates.......one of the swords shifted and cut through his esophagus. It was scary as hell to see blood on the tip of a sword. Then, when he took a drag off of his cigarette, the smoke went into his neck (instead of his lungs) and his face began to swell up like a balloon. Luckily, he has medical friends who specialize in these types of surgeries, so he was sewn up quickly.....but, the doctor said he could have easily died if he had waited any longer. Sometimes, people forget that there is real danger involved.......and they also forget that once a stunt has been achieved, respect should be given to the ones who are willing to risk life and limb to demonstrate the outer limits of the human body.

If you borrow your neighbors car, it's usually a good idea to ask permission. I'm still confused, after all these years, why the same isn't true for our acts.

OP, if you ever decide to let us know who you are, you might gain some credibility. It's pretty easy to hide behind a web-name, eh?

Harley, I acknowledge your good point and mentioned it to Murrugun. He said George the Giant told him about it, but he had not seen the video of it, even to this day. Of course, when he realized he could do it too, he had to try it.......he did it at the last show of the night. I can assure you he meant no disrespect. It's hard to stop progress, but your point of courtesy is a good one, especially with unique acts. Murrugun is just an edge pusher........Dan created a new edge and Murrugun is stepping up to that edge........Soon he will push it further for everyone.

Disrespect is a funny concept.

I speak as someone who frequently sees his work "borrowed" by others. I feel so respected, on one hand.

On the other, I put a lot of work into developing my own material. If, like you, I worked in the recording industry, I'd get royalties, eh?

Nobody has ever clearly explained to me, why this type of borrowing is ethically OK.

Harley, people see something someone does and says to themselves "hey, he/she can do it, I'm so smart I'm sure I could do it too". In one way, yes this can be construed to appear as a form of flattery.

One time I was performing my act right before a sideshow troupes set. One of the members of this group was watching my act intently. Quite intently.... I didn't think much of it other than "wow, this guy must really like my act!" So, I finish my set. I figured I would hang out to see what type of show this troupe can put on. Part way through their set, one of their members starts up a pierced weightlifting act. All of the sudden I watch him literally try his hardest to do my patented ear-lift-weight-clapping. This is a part of my show that I had really put a lot of time into to make it look good and work on stage. This guy saw it and assumed it was an easy bit.."hey, he can do it, I'm so smart I'm sure I could do it too". He failed miserably, and as fate would have it many other performers there lost ALL respectability towards not only the performer, but the entire troupe as well. Did I get upset? Sure. Do I feel a grudge against him? No. Had he succeeded in doing what I do and incorporated it into his act that would be a different story.

My main problem is with someone with no credentials decrying anothers amazing feat. Maybe if he had the stones to come out of his little safety that anonymity provides his words would hold more clout. Otherwise it's just another nobody attempting to bring down someone better than him.

Harley, I understand where you are coming from, but where would Dan be if he could have never swallowed a sword because of the first guy who swallowed a sword? Should it only be passed down by his children? How long is an acceptable time after something is created for someone else to be able to do their version of it? In the music business, if the song is recorded....then the song can be sold and protected. If someone in a bar wants to cover that song in their set, they don't have to pay anyone. Ultimately, we can't take anything with us when we die and all suffering comes from attachment. Constant creation is the way of the universe.....so says T-RAY the Sideshow Seer.
