Amazingly there are a few copies (new) of this on Ebay for considerably less than the original price.
I had to pick it up because I really love book tests and I don't have any others with this methodology. Well, Babel kind of has a similar feature, but this is considerably more disguised and more fleshed out. At least before the effect, the books are very examinable, UNLESS, and this is a big unless, the spectator is very familiar with the books that these purport to be. Just something to be aware of. I'm still playing with the presentation, but I might ask the spectator if they've read the book and if they say something indicating that they are very familiar with it, I might steer them to another book. Maybe something like "Sometimes if you have a strong memory of this book it will make it more difficult for me. It's easier if you're reading something for the first time". Dunno, odds are that most people are not particularly familiar with them. I think the advice earlier in this thread about not leaving the ending to the spectator is good. Even in the demo video, it's noticeable that the climax fizzles when the spec reads.
