A Holiday Gift to Magic Café Members…

To celebrate the spirit of the Holidays and the spirit of Magic,
I’d like to share a story-presentation out of my working repertoire,
which I use in many if not most of my performances.

This is a gift for use by Café members who enjoy story-magic,
and I’d appreciate if it were not passed on outside our circle.

Please feel free to use the presentation as is,
or to rework it in your style and voice!

I retain and reserve copyright for any media performance,
or any form of publication, and marketing rights.

Happy Holidays!

(Okito’s Impossible Escape, OR Ring Through Ribbon)

The Shogun had a passion for all things beautiful,
His royal gardener, grew long-stemmed …everythings,
His royal chef prepared cuisine that fed the eyes, as well as palate, and
His royal jeweler fashioned amazing bangles of ivory and jade!

(The magician displays a length of ribbon and a ring)

This jeweler, was a very young artisan,
and his genius lay in his innocence--
He had given his heart, and all his love,
to the most beautiful maiden in the Province,
And she returned his adoration!

But, as was the custom in olden days,
this same maiden had been promised to another since birth--
Her intended was none other than the Shogun,
(who had a passion for all things beautiful)
and so the young artisan lost his true love,
and was left to suffer in silence.

In his grief, he fashioned a precious bangle of the rarest Jade,
for his beloved to wear on her wedding day,
and they say he polished the bracelet with his many tears.

(The magician loops the ribbon onto the ring)

A magical bangle of hard jade stone--
But, the Shogun saw in their eyes a great love,
and because he had a passion for all things beautiful,
the Shogun felt his heart soften,
even as the jade stone--

(The ribbon silently passes through and penetrates the ring)

And seeing true love, he gave to his young artisan,
the hand of the beautiful maiden in marriage.

I love this style of presentation, it is much more enjoyable than, "Now the ribbon is threaded onto the ring like this..."

Thank you for sharing, this is a beautiful story.
