What do you do if … you do a prediction or some other effect using a Time Machine Watch and then somebody says 'Let me have a look at that watch?'
This happened to me first time I used mine. I've never used it since … I don't want to sell it. I would be very grateful for any suggestions Thanks

Well I think you might have put too much attention on the watch. Don't say lets do a trick with my watch or something like that, but more casually use the watch as a way to reveal the prediction. I can't explain it too much, since my English isn't that good, but I can advice you to take a look at this forum topic:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=159 David Meade (TMC username write2david) has written an usefull guide for using the time machine. I would suggest you read that. Good luck, Jeroen |

Thanks Jeroen!
Yes, just reading that review by Cushman has given me ideas. I expect I'll buy it. Even so, any further suggestions would still be appreciated. I'm not sure if the manuscript tackles my question head on.

Yes, thanks Jeff. Maybe I've not given due to consideration (or, indeed, any consideration!) to my unconscious suggestions and unintentional communications.
Even so, my question still stands. There must be plenty of crude minded performers like myself who have just gone straight out and performed with this item and been called on it. Hopefully one or two were quick-witted enough to come up with a response to such an awkward situation. While spectator management, suggestion, and tying the item in with a wider effect will all help avoid being called, I think having a reply ready is the ultimate escape clause, and will increase my confidence in using it massively. Therefore, please keep your responses coming folks ...

Thanks Malchat. That is a nice suggestion. Hopefully I'll never have to use it, but even so ...
What Kuffs effect are you referring to please?

'Watchism' from Patrick Kuffs' Mind Stunts DVD: a written prediction is put on the table, you twirl the knob of a borrowed watch in full view, volunteer says 'Stop' at any point, the time stopped at matches the prediction.
It's one of those simple ideas that just makes me smile.

Yes, I know that one. Never really had the guts to try it. Maybe I'll give it a go.

Olly:
Rather than end with one of the impromptu watch effects, I prefer to start with two of them and make my Watch & Wear the third and final watch effect. That way, I feel that the "set" builds to the strongest climax. (BTW, I do my variation of a John Riggs watch routine he sent me.) |

Oh... and my point is that routined in this way, I am NEVER asked about my watch.

Let them handle the watch.they wont find anything.not many people will pull the pin out.version two of the masters watch requires that you hold it at an angle.so if they do pull out the pin nothing will happen.if they twist the pin.oi ! what you done to my watch?>TAKE IT BACK< TURN PIN WHILST TILTING>PHEWW THOUGHTED YOUD BROKE IT>

Thanks Arnon and Magic in Mind. Your suggestions are most appreciated.
Magic in Mind - I particularly like your idea. Your use of the word 'oi' indicates you a perhaps British or S.African

Thanks for the good words gaafman,
Something that I have realised for some time now, and have shared in the ebook, is the 'utility' of the time machine. I honestly do use it as a utility item, like my boon, tt, and sanada. I never perform without it - stage, walkaround or close up - it fit's everywhere. Glad the feedback on the booklet has been so good, and so many of you are enjoying the material. I'm getting great feedback on the handling for LUke Jermay's REversed Gestaly Vision - Derren Brown Fans really lap it up! best wishes in magic, david. |

One thing I notice is that most people nowadays do not even wear a wrist watch and if they do they is a good chance it is a digital watch. I perform this in bars a lot to break the ice with people and I usually will notice beforehand if they are wearing a watch or not. If they aren't wearing a watch I will says "I woudl like to try an experiment. I just need to borrow your watch. Oh you don't have one? Are you sure? OK, I got one." Then just go in to the routine. NEVER have I had anyone as to see the watch, especially if you asked to use theirs to start off with. If they ask to see the watch still, I use the Electric Touch and let them get ZAPPED when they reach for it. That usually gets their mind off of looking at it. LOL
