I had modified the clean up for myself and that made it better, but I don't find myself in a situation to perform this as often as I'd like anymore. It doesn't do the effect justice to perform it on an opaque surface, and yet I am rarely in the position with a thin glass table to do this. Oh well. |

It seems to me (of course I haven't seen the explanation) that its way cleaner than Descent. Is it? Marc |

I do not own Descent so I cannot give you an answer to that. What I can tell you is that when you watch the demo, you'll notice that the hand that was on top of the table is empty when it goes underneath the table after the penetration happens. This is when the ditch happens, and that camera angle that you're looking at is the only one that will allow you to do that particular ditch, give or take a couple of degrees in either direction. The actual "vanish" is extraordinarily clean looking, and done properly will be above suspicion but it is by no means "clean."

Check out Ali Cook's version of coins through a glass table. Can be viewed from above and below the table! Great stuff.

It's not for sale, but can be viewed for inspiration on the UK series of Monkey Magic, and the 50 Greatest Magic Tricks Ever series. Cheers,

I also have reservations using the Melting Point professionally because of the angle limitations. Michaels

Wouldn't the coins through table on Vol. 1 of David Regal's Premise, Power and Participiation series work on a glass table?
I haven't checked it, but I can't remember why it wouldn't. |

I love melting point, to me it is a very clean effect.
I also like Descent. I will try to put the diference between each one of them, for those that doesn't have boths: Melting point: You received all you need to perform this effect, you do not need to go out and construct a gimmick. It is of course angle sensitive, but the angles are very generous in this very particular effect. At least you have someone behind you, or watching under the table, you will be always free to perform this effect. At the end you have to ways to end up clean. The pro one, which is the last one you watch in the video, is the best one. You end so clean you wouldn't believe it. It teaches you a very great way to get clean, and this can be used also to perform some other effects. You need to wear a ring, doesn't matter what kind of ring, and is not a special one. NOTE: the ring is not included. You can use any ring you already have, and this needs no special preparation. Altought the video doesn't show you how to perform it with a signed coin, with a little imagination you can make it. (if you don't get how to do it, pm me and I will tell you how.) You need two special coins to perfom this effect, the coins are supplied with your purchase, but they are not in your normal currency. If you want to perform it with your normal currency, you will have to extra buy some steel coins. DESCENT: This doesn't requires to wear any ring, at all. The effect quit almost the same as melting point. You need to do a little preparation on the table, but that takes about 15 seconds (probably less). So it is very easy to do the preparation when you introduce yourself to your audience. The great thing about this one, is that it doesn't requires any special coin AT ALL. So you do not need to buy any steel coins, you can even borrow the coin. And also in the video you learn how to do it with a signed coin. The effect is pure, I think is one of the best effects Kevin Parker has come up with. The angles for this one are just the same generous as melting point. Also this ones doesn't require to wear any ring of any class. At the end you are a little dirty, but you can easily get totally clean in about 4 sec. Also you might want to consider the price of each one. To me the vote goes to DESCENT becuase requeires less props then melting point, it is quite the same effect, you can use any coin even borrowed, it teach you how to make it with a signed coin, it doesn't requries wearing any ring, and also is cheaper. Now moving a little forward, I think so far in this thread, nobody has recomended the Black widow, which by the way is superior to melting point in many ways. I mean you can perform so many effects with this gimmick, includint coin thru glass table. This is a very worthly gimmick to have. with this one you can use ANY COIN, even borrowed. Either you havent mentioned the PK ring tool. By having a pk ring, you can perform hundreds of effects, including a coin thru glass table effect. But of course you wil need steel coins to perform it. So my vote keeps on DESCENT by KEVIN PARKER. And if you have the money to buy black widow, then that will be your second option. I hope this post be a little helpful Néfesch |

Each has its pluses and minuses. One of the biggest negatives is finding a glass table to work on. You could carry your PK ring and special coins around for weeks or months before you happen upon a glass table.
That makes Dean's Triangle a standout, in that you have your own transparent surface to work with (though I wouldn't consider the Triangle, because of its size, to be conveniently portable). The Black Widow works any and everywhere, though it has limitations of its own. No perfect system out there, but awaiting we are. |

All the work seems to be accomplished with the special coin(s). Maybe I'm missing something (wouldn't be a first) but, for the price, it seems like you could make a small portable transparent table for a whole lot less than $750. |

As mentioned by evolve629, the "Butter Coin" is a great effect, very visual, no preparation, & extremely easy to clean-up if you even feel it necessary.

My vote goes to James Lewis's "Million Dollar Mysteries" very little clean up and you will more then likely have the type of coin you need.
