This post is almost 15 months old now. Would love to hear if he still practices. (No posts in last 30 days at least).
Me, I am so incredibly lazy that I have to spend weeks building up enough energy to rehearse something. If something feels like a chore I will put it off for as long as possible. On the other hand I do card and coin sleights for at least 4 hours a day. My lazy side is too stoopid to understand that this is actually practice too.

Well, I usually practice while I watch tv. For example, if I'm practicing the French drop I just sit there watcing tv while doing the French drop.
After doing that for about a week my French drop felt so natural that I sometimes French dropped things when I was actually going to take them! |

Yes, while watching tv is a great time to practice... I have a deck of cards,
and 4 coins nearby, and use either....

Practicing sleights while watching TV is just fine if you have completed the necessary preparation of learning the sleight correctly. Mindless repetition is okay once the sleight is learned, but your full attention is required when first learning the sleight to make certain you are learning it accurately.
Once muscular habits are established by repetition, they are difficult to change. Save yourself a lot of time and anguish. Make certain the movements of sleights are correct and that you are forming correct tactual memory habits before the repetition phase begins. Cheers, Gerald |

I practice while watching TV. I keep cards and other purse items on the end table near me.

I don't have much experience in practicing having only done magic for about a month and a half, but what I find myself doing, and I at least think it's working for me, is I'll spend however much time I feel like, and I'll initially practice to gain a basic competency with the sleight. Then I'll go watch a TV show or something and keep practicing the sleight when I'm watching the TV show, at first my attention is divided between the show and he cards but after some time I'm pretty much just watching the TV show(as far as attention goes). I don't know if this is true but my theory behind it is that it will help me to be able to the sleight without looking and without focusing on it at all, or at least minimally, when it comes to performance.

I, personally, like to pay more attention when I'm trying to learn a sleight. I may have the tv on, but that's more for background noise. I don't really watch it though. I spend just long enough working on the new sleight so that I don't get overly bored or frustrated with it, say about 20 minutes. Then I put down the cards or coins and do something else for a while. I'll come back to the sleight again when I'm feeling fresher and when I feel I can give it most of my attention. I just repeat that until I have the sleight down.
