Hi!
I'm going to buy a set of Fakini billiard balls and I've visited Dennymagic but I don't know the best size to perform in the stage. I think 2" would be the best but I would like any of you to give me advice about that. Is there really much difference between 2 and 2 1/4 or between 1 3/4 and 2? I mainly want that the Balls can be seen well when I'm performing in the stage. Thanks a lot in advance. |

2 inches would be the way to go then. Start doing streching excercises with your fingers to help get your hands ready for them.

Yes, I Agree - 2" is the way to go to start. The main differnce between 2 and 2 1/4 is the math (I have a math degree so this will make sense *smile*) 1/4" per finger is one more inch per spread, meaning that when you are totally finished with the production, your fingers will be stretched out a full inch more than with 2" balls. It may not seem like alot, but when you have all in your hand, it will be a "handful" (no pun intended) Trying to control the balls when you are not used to having your fingers spread that far apart can be a little uncomfortable, and at the same time disheartening. That's why they make different sizes. Peoples hands are different, so different sizes are a great adjustment. once you get comfortable with 2" then a step up will be a lot easier. People can still see them clearly too (at 2"), so no worries on that.
Hope that helps some. |

It all depends on the size of your hand. Cardini used 2 3/8" w/o gloves. And 2.25 with his gloves, He also had freakishly long fingers...I think it is easier to go from larger to smaller, there is less stress on you joints and the larger balls a noticebly heavier...

There is a very significant visual difference between 2" and 2 1/4" from a stage perspective. Most texts suggest using the largest size you can perform comfortably with, a minimum of 2" for stage.

Thank you so much for your advices!
My fingers are not very long. Well I would say they are a little bit short. I have already used balls (not Fakini, those used to play with bats on the beach... ) to practice some exercises like ball roll and vanishes so I want to go a step further and try with Fakini's. I think 2" are the best for me. |

Hello again,
I want to buy the balls at Dennymagic but I can't know the shipping cost (International/AIR) before I pay for the product. I have to know the total price before I pay because an International shipping could be very expensive! I have already mailed them but no response yet. Have anybody purchased there with an International shipping? How much it cost? I would appreciate any kind of help. |

Other than direct from the House of Fakini, or Stevens Magic, I can't think of any other places to buy them from. I would think that the shipping is going to be pretty similar for any one of them. Maybe give Stevens a call.

As previously mentioned, visibility is important. However, also think about the venue type in which you will be performing. The larger the ball the bigger the angle problem. Hand size is also a factor in regard to the size of the ball and the angle. Don't think that big hands will cover your tail, proper technique must also be used. When practicing in front of the mirror or the video cam, vary the angle of your body in relation to the angle of audience perception so you know that you won't be flashing to certain audience sections. This is important both with the ball and with the gimmick.
To determine the best ball size, experiment with wadded up foil balls that approximate the sizes you are considering. Fakini balls are not cheap (they are well worth the price), so before plopping down your bucks play around with cheap stuff (foil) to get an idea of the best size for your needs. Realize, of course, there will be a big difference with the texture of the foil versus the Fakini ball--but we are mainly concerned with sizing here. Good Luck John |

A Racquetball has a diameter of 2.25 in. So, you could get an idea of the size with one of these. You might be able to get a worn out one for fee. As noted above, you will find a 2.25 in ball looks much bigger than a 2.0 in ball but is much harder to do the standard magicians moves with.

It is better to use a ball size you can manage to manipulate
and do a splendid job with them, than use a larger ball for stage sight, and make a mess dropping them because they are larger than your hand can manage. You can begin with smaller and as you become more and more comfortable and proficient with them work to larger ones. Fakini are great to handle at any size. My two-cents, Walt |

I recently purchased 1 adn three quarter inch from Denny&Lee.
posting overseas was about 12 dollars. I purchased this product on its own (with one extra ball). so that'll be about the price any one will pay for international shipping. needless to say that Denny was very good at answering my emails and I received my order within 5 working days. now that I purchased this size, I am a bit upset that I didn't actually go for the 2inch size. I will purchase them aswell. I don't mind having two sets of these supurb manipulating balls. Dani |

If you get any size get the 2" fakini these are without a doubt the best. It's what all the top manipulators use. Oh and get them in white they look bigger and better.
