Mines a Rotary Elite ...is this a "mines better than yours" post?
Seriously...the watch depends on the event. You don't need a gold watch if you're only doing a kids party....and you don't want to turn up to a corporate gig with a tacky digital thing you got free with your frosties. Maybe if you ask your local jewelers whats in style for the price you want to pay, then you cant go wrong? |

Jon Stetson is clearly a man who appreciates good footwear. Allen Edmonds come from my neck of the woods. Great (but not cheap) shoes.

For those of you who have never seen Jon Stetson work, he is the best mentalist I have ever seen, and when he picked my wife to assist him on stage he made her laugh so hard that she was unable to answer any of his questions, and my dear wife Bonnie became the star of Jon's show that night.

Seriously. What will they remember: A Bad magician who wore a nice watch? OR a Good magician who wore a avrage watch? And... If all they notice is the watch, you ain't doing your job! |

I used to wear a wrist watch, but stopped when I got a pocket watch. I think it can add that little bit extra class to your look.
It may not be a couple hundred dollar watch, but it was a gift so it means more to me then a expensive watch would. =] The Great Danton

I wear a Raymond Weil watch, the reason for this is - it's my watch, I haven't got another.

Why not just steal a watch, put it on during your act, then reveal it at the end of the show....its amazing how you can do an entire show with someone looking directly at their own watch on your wrist...

Patek Phillipe is the watch. I would love to own one. Another thing about the Patek Phillipe is that they are a great investment. Every watch they produce appreciates by 10% each year (assuming of course that you take care of it.)
I wear several different watches. Most of them are vintage Hamilton electrics (about 8 of them), but I also wear a vintage Omega, a vintage Bulova, a vintage Ernst Borel Cocktail, & a vintage Vacheron Constantine. The thing about vintage watches is that just like classic cars, they are unique. Most of them aren't really that expensive. You can pick up a great old mechanical watch for $200 dollars or so. You will have to wind it every day, but it will last forever and keep great time. It will also be noticed. I was wearing my Hamilton Ventura one night at a party and happened to steal a Patek Phillipe from an older gentleman. He kept going on and on about my Hamilton. I didn't say a word about his watch. At the end of my set, he again mentioned my watch and how much he liked it. At that point I took it off and offered to to give it to him as a gift or he could trade it for something else. He wanted to keep the Hamilton until I pulled his Patek Phillipe from my pocket. Bottom line is get something that is unique and you will be noticed. Or just keep wearing your current watch and not worry about the status symbol. I wear old watches because I like them, not because I do magic. Paul |

Hello Ray,
the “European In watch” to wear, would be either a model of Glashütte or Jaeger LeCoultre. Glashütte: http://www.glashuette-original.com/ Jaeger LeCoultre: http://www.jaegerlecoultre.com/home.do While I don’t wear a watch when performing, I cherish my grandpa’s automatic the rest of the time. It’s a 1930 rebuild of some popular model back than - an old fake so to speak. That makes it rare, but still worthless |

I wear either my 15 year old rolex "submariner" (blue face},
- or my new 18ct rolex "daytona" white face. rolexs are a great investment, I was offered the same amount for my 15 year old submariner as I origially paid for it from dealers ! they allways look good. I don't think most people would recognise a "patek phillipe" or some of the other exotic watches, - but everybody knows what a "rolex" looks like. I would really like to own "childs play 2" dress model though. - a great watch for a mentalist. |

I do not own a wrist watch. I threw away my last watch when I quit my day job. Now a days I find out the time from my cell phone.
