I know some-------and I do mean some things are not suited for everyone. We know the frase (to each his own). However, good jewelry on the hands can be used as a form of (depistaggio)good for close up(divert the eyes) of the audience. Hope I made some point.Respectfully,DonRodrigo.

I collect watches, and my favorite, by far, is my Omega Seamaster. I also have a few Citizen, Bulova and Longines. Not to mention about 5 or 6 different types of G-Shocks(my favorite G-Shock is the Frogman).
I am looking to purchace a new watch...maybe a Tag or a Hamilton. I really like the Tag Aquagraph.

But if it is class you are looking for the choices are almost endless and dictated only by how fat your wallet is...and how thin you want it to be after the purchase.

I like my Hamilton Ventura (not the chronograph version). It's classy, and it's different - especially here in the UK.

I almost completely shave my arm leaving just a few hairs in a very small tight group. Gel and spray them in place. Use a pen to small draw a cirle around them and mark off the the hours and viola, you have your very own mini sun dial.

I prefer cheaper watches ok I don't just prefer them I have to buy them. (i know it's sad) but have found a nice cheap kahuna (if not wearing a full suit) or bench/ben sherman seem to give a simple yet elegant quality

I only wear a watch when:

1. When I am doing magic.

I wear a CW Perfect time or a Geneva CW pocket watch.
I may or may not use these during a show.

2. When I am flying, I wear a Torgoen flight computer watch

At all other times I am glad not have a watch to help me get hyper and in a rush.

A good quartz crystal controlled watch (like a Seiko) is more accurate over the long haul than a Rolex or most any spring-driven watch. The style of the watch you wear should be determined by your costume.

If you work in close proximity with magnets (as many bizarrists like myself do), wear an LCD watch, not a mechanical (quartz or spring-driven) watch. Magnets, especially the new stronger neodymium magnets, will damage the movement.

Rolex is watch but not a time piece!

I have a 6 size Elgin pocket watch. It was made in 1892 or 1893. It has an 11 jewel movement. It was my great grandfathers. It kicks any Rolex in the teeth. It even has doves on it! That is a magicians timepiece.

I wear a red Swatch Paparazzi for restaurant work, and stuff with kids - they love it! You'll see them on eBay.. Orange, Red, Black.. and only about $25.00 or so...very impressive large watch. Digital.
It's huge, you can easily get coins under it, and it matches my outfit - I always work sleeveless, usually with a red T-shirt and vest.

On the inside of the vest, I have a velcro strip with 5 or six wristwatches attached. When I open the vest, say, to get a pen, I "accidentally" flash the watches.. it either gets a load of laughs, or they think I'm selling dodgy watches...either way.. it works well!
For private parties, I usually wear my Rolex - although, here one the West coast of Ireland it largely goes un-noticed.
Different story in London..!

That is a funny gag!

IMHO, the classic Breitling Navitimer is one of the classiest watches to wear for doing magic.

a) It's got a very old-world classic look while
b) being very modern as well
c) It's a really classy timepiece
d) It's big enough to use for some behind-the-watch moves/steals/hides
e) It's a Breitling.

I found this thread on watches to be very interesting. I think that we all have to remember that what we wear should be in character with who we are. If you are wearing a Brioni, Canali, Zegna(insert favorite suit/sportcoat brand here) and a timex watch people will notice. And if you are wearing suspenders and a pair of oversized pleated pants with a rolex people will notice that too. Just find out what fits your character best. There are a ton of great watches out there that are very reasonable. The one I choose to wear fits me perfectly and gets noticed by the corporate folks as well as those I do a private party for and for different reasons. Those who know what it is appreciate it for the quality and those who don't know what it is appreciate it for it's uniqueness.

By the way, for the record I have owned a couple movados, omegas, a rolex, raymond weil, baume et mercier, and a hublot. I still own two collectable disney watches, a kenneth cole and my show watch. If anyone is ever looking for a watch let me know and I can probably get you a better price than you will find anywhere else because of my former connections in the jewelry industry.

If your gone for looking rich then buy a 50 doller cigar and stick out of your brest pocket it will psycoholgicaly do the same thing as a 2000 doller watch cause if you have enough money to spend fifty on a cigar surely you can put a lot more down on a watch

Al Angelo wrote over a year ago that instead of wearing a watch he uses his cell phone. How many of you have replaced your watch with your cell phone? I have. When I did wear a watch, it was my custom to take it off while performing, thinking it might be distracting to the audience. Of course, another reason why I took my watch off is because it usually came from Wal-mart.

Funny you brought this up, because I just bought a cheapo wrist watch to wear for walkaround magic after attending a Joshua Jay lecture. If you don't know what I mean you will have to see Joshua in action to understand why I only wear a wrist watch to perform close up magic. The rest of my life is the same I wear no jewelry on my arms ever, because jugglers never wear rings, bracelets, or watches. I do have a couple gold chains around my neck because black people, and Italians wear gold.

Having seen Joshua Jay lecture before, I know the routine you are talking about and its worth wearing a watch for. So is Scotty York's Color Changing Knives.

My wife recently got me another watch a Seiko. It is a regualr dial traditional watch, which I prefer over digital. The cool thing is it has a stop watch feature which helps me to keep time during my shows, I found it to be helpful.

Bill Clinton was quoted, during his presidency, as saying that he wore a $65 watch.

As for me, I wear a Citizen Black Dial. I had to replace the leather band with a metal one because my sweat eats through leather in no time. I was getting sick of replacing bands.
