Just saw the following posted on the GENII forum by Richard Kaufman:
I just found 7 copies of The Complete Invocation Vol.1 & 2 in my garage. This is the enormous one-volume reprint: volumes 1 and 2 in one large book. First seven folks to contact me get them. I know these are the last 7 since my garage is now empty and so's the warehouse (on this title). Thus, the price is $500 each. No plans to reprint in the next few years (at least). I will toss in a copy of Invocation Vol.3, a $75 value, for FREE to purchasers and I'll pay the postage. Contact me at moobooks@ix.netcom.com. Please feel free to post this message on other boards if you think folks would be interested. |

Mind you the shipping of this massive volume might make up for the 375 dollar difference in price. Compleat Invocation by Tony Raven & Masklyn ye Mage This long out-of-print classic, first published thirteen years ago in two volumes in a limted edition of 300, now reappears in a single 900 page hardcover. It contains all 16 issues of Invocation and issues 1-36 of The New Invocation. "In case you don't already know, Invocation is not your typical magic magazine. On the contrary, it is a magazine consciously "Devoted to Weird and Bizarre Magick." ...Invocation, then, stands as a reminder to magicians that there is an older magic, a deeper and perhaps even darker tradition that has quietly spread underground for centuries - banished temporarily by Robert-Houdin when he exchanged the wizard's robes for the contemporary dress of the day. This older magic stretches back in time and history far beyond the point where written records begin. ...And so Invocation gives us magic for the few and not for the many. Perhaps this is as it should be." -From the Introduction by Eugene Burger $ 125.00 |

Granted, Misdirections doesn't acutally have any in stock, still, it's available for signicantly less than $500, Quentin. Usually, I'm right behind you, but you seem to straying in Rev. Lewis's territory here. . .

Lol
Wow ..I just got a copy about 2 months ago via Ron Allesi's website, for $92, in like new condition. And yes, I'm talking about Compleat Invocation Volume(s) 1/2, not the newer Volume III. Now, right after I bought my book, it seems that many users here (and other places too) suggested that Richard Kaufman knew he still had a few copies left lying around, and that with a phone call, chances are you could probably get still get one, and at the original price, which was $125 I think. Yow. Now it's quadruple that ?? Even with CI III included, that's still painful ! Boy, am I glad I jumped on the book when I saw it - I had a gut feeling it was a smart investment when I did that, despite what I was being told.. and I was actually right, in spades ! I should go buy a lottery ticket next, huh ?

In case of any confusion, I'm not selling these. I saw the post on the GENII forum and thought it might be of interest here.
And I do think Richard is asking way too much. |

Quentin, I understood that, but you're wise in making that clear.
I can't tell you how many times I mentioned a link to an eBay auction that I thought was interesting only to have some dimwit accuse me of this or that. (Not necessarily this site, though it's happened here too). Some people are indeed very lazy readers/thinkers !

The orignal two volume slipcased Kaufman edition regularly sold on the secondary market in excess of $1,000 when it became available. (I kick myself to this day for not snagging one at $350 when I had the chance.) That was, of course, prior to the release of both volumes under a single cover. Nevertheless, given what the market WAS, $500 seems a reasonable price tag. Will it still get that today? Only the market can decide.
