Hi Paul,
In the preface you wrote for David Regal’s “Constant Fooling” you referenced your first meeting with him at the home of Larry Jennings. The thought of the three of you (three for whom I have such high regard) sessioning together makes me wish I could have been a fly on the wall (or a card in the deck) that day. Were there other such sessions between the three of you? Was there any particular collaborative material that came out of that session? Any anecdotes you could share about that day, or about you and Jennings on any other day? Thanks! Evan |

Hey Evan,
I had some great sessions at LJ's house and that one was highly memorable. It was the fist time I had met David and I was a fan of his work. Larry barked orders at us for a few hours "Do this trick! Show him that move!" while eating a lot of hamburgers from In and Out! I think that meeting was more about showing each other "our stuff". Since then David and I have shared a great deal. A couple of weeks ago David was in London and we were at doing card tricks for hours. I can barely remember who did what that night - never mind all those years ago! I can tell you it's a real honor to brainstorm with Regal - he has some terrific ideas and it bothers me how much he fools me. P |

Hi Paul,
Could you tell us a bit more about what was Jennings like as a magician? It is one of my great regret that I will not be able to meet the man in this life. Yves |

Yves - Jennings was a natural, charming sleight of hand expert who knew how to pick a good trick for his audience. His style was that of a gentleman but, in private he was a real guys guy and was never slow to speak his mind. I knew him in the mid nineties until his death so there are many people who knew LJ for longer and could answer your question with more authority.
I was always a Jennings fan and can say that Larry lived up to his reputation. A fantastic way to learn what Larry was like is to but the new DVD - Larry Jennings: A Private Lesson. It's Larry in the 1970s - relaxed and completely comfortable in front of the camera. I bought this recently and I've watched it several times. HIGHLY recommended. P |

Thanks Paul. I would've liked to know him as I am a big fan too of his work.
