Peter Boyle, the sardonic father on TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond" and the monster in the film comedy "Young Frankenstein" has died at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He had battled Multiple Myeloma and Heart Disease.

I remember when Young Frankenstein came out. I was at the back of the theater and actually fell off the seat from laughing so hard. "He's going to be very popular." "You made a yummy sound."
He was a very good actor and, from the stories I've heard, a very nice man. His talent and legend will live on. Greg

This is very sad. I remember when Young Frankenstein first came out...I was in the Air Force and went to the base theatre to watch the premiere. Didn't realize it at the time, but this would prove to be a wonderful, long enduring classic.

I remember him from "Young Frankenstein," but I was bowled over by his performance on "The X Files" ... makes me cry every time ... TV Guide included that episode among the 100 greatest TV Science Fiction programs.

Before Archie Bunker there was "Joe", which was Peter Boyle's first, and greatest movie role. It was almost 40 years ago, and I remember "Joe" like it was yesterday. If you rent "Joe" you will never forget Peter Boyle's character. Now I'm beginning to sound like my parents.

Didn't he also do "Tail Gunner Joe" which was about the McCarthy hearings?
Very powerful actor and very funny as well. He will be missed.

Lyndel has put up an impressive list of credits for Peter Boyle, but if you see "Joe" you will have seen his best, and most unforgetable character. What "taxi driver" did to define Robert Di Nero "Joe" did for Peter Boyle.
