Although I am not a gospel performer, I came up with a cool presentaion for this rubber band effect. I can't go into detail of the effect itself, suffice to say that when making certain shapes with two rubber bands one of them ends up in a permanent star shape... Just thought I'd share the presentation with you...
I get any children to fill in the blanks of the story whilst giving them visual clues with the shapes as they come up... 'Once upon a time over 2000 years ago a man was born into the world on Dec. 25, His name was... Jesus... (do first shape) He was put on a... cross... Three wise men found him under a bright shining... star... (do second shape and hold aloft) By three wise men (do third shape... triangle within a triangle...)And he turned out to be the biggest 'star' in the whole world (do final star within a star...) Some folks would stop there, but being a magician look... (release preformed star to finish) As I said I'm not a gospel performer but put this over when there are children at the table and pass it off as an effect I came up with for the Christmas period as something special for that season... Hope you can use it Vernon |

Nice Vernon! I like it a lot.
Where would I find the handling for the shapes you did? (if you don't mind my asking..) I have just started doing Rubber Bands and am having a great time using the Dan Harlan videos and learning stuff that actually appears magical! I never thought of Rubber Bands as magic, but when I saw tht Dan Harlan (an incredible magic thinker, preformer and creator) had videos on it, I said "If Dan thinks it works, then I am sure it will!" Our local FCM did a Christian Coffee House gig last night and none of my main stuff (fire, mailbag escape, etc) would work there, so I went aound into the crowd and did a few cards, and Rubber Bands. Anyway it would be great if you could point me to some sources for the handling on it. Thanks in advance! BroDavid

Thanks for the reply bro david. Always good to hear that someone else likes it. The effect is called Sargazer and I purchased mine from JB Magic (log on http://www.jbtv.co.uk
It costs about 5 pounds sterling and you receive, (I think 10 bands) They are basically preformed bands in the shape of a star and thru a series of manipulations with another band they take on the prescribed shape and ultimately stay that way... ie in a star shape. Well worth the effort and money. Vernon |
