Man, I had to teach myself from watching everyone else lol. I searched on the net and asked some buds but they were stubborn and the sites didn't help. If you know the basic contraption, practice that then search and ask around for some extra tips and some ideas and such.
P.S. I can get the coin about a foot in the air so its not like I cant do it lol. Also, I had to practice it non-stop for like a month. Ian |

I don't mean to sound crass...but why bust your A** and you hand. For a move that is so limited in it uses? Do you have a link to the effect (Quarter thur Glass) I want see it. And maybe I know a better verssion that is just as effective if not more magical looking. That dose not require such a usless sleight. But I don't want sound off until I see this verssion.
later RJ PS I can mussel pass a half dollar 4-5 feet streight up with my hand held on a table. It was Johnny Ace Palmer who first show me the mussel pass back in 1993. And I seem to have a natual ability. the very first time I tried I did it I did it just as good a JAP. And within 3 days I was able to MP the 4-5 feet up. But I just feel the action is so unnatural...But I maybe wrong I don't until I see. |

I can mussel pass a half dollar 4-5 feet streight up with my hand held on a table. I call BS. I've seen the video's from the magic olympics in japan(or wherever) and the worlds heightest MP is nowhere near that. Such BS bragging, there is no way you can get 4 feet with your hand held on a table using a regular half dollar.... |

Agree with Daegs on this, If you can do this go for the guinness world record you would win and never be beat again. If I remember Daegs the Magic olymics you are talking about also had the guy who did 68 coin rolls in a minute which is really the world record he just didn't do it for guinness yet. Anyway if this guy can do the muscle pass as he claims contact guinness as you for sure would be the newest record holder for years and years to come!

Shenanigans. 4-5 Feet sounds a little embellished... two feet sounds hard enough. But aside from that, I posted on another thread that Michael Ammar has John Cornelius on his Classic Renditions (Vol 1)video. John Cornelius teaches HIS muscle pass in a very clear fashion and even shows an alternative handling for propelling a coin sideways. If a MP is executed correctly, it is a very magical thing to watch a coin "fall up" or penetrate a piece of glass. Don't feel too bad if you have to "cheat" the coin up a little. Most guys do whether we admit it or not. Chad long describes the MP as a "coin that keeps squirting out of classic palm". (maybe not verbatim his words... but you can get the basic idea.) To get the coin through the glass effect down, there is a little less force required. If you can legitimately MP a coin a solid 6-7 inches, you'll be fine. Hope that helps, Scottthegreat.

Mike,
Thanks for pointing out the mussel pass.I was talking about a thumb press or thunmb snap, where the coin is placed in the crotch of the thumb in edge grip. And when the hand is sqeezed the coin is shot out between the thunb and the side of the of the palm at the base of the first finger...I was confused please forgive me. I know the MP and I don't do it... RJ |

IMO, its not really the mechanics of it that need to be learned, but the practice put into it. Finding your own tips and tricks are far more effective/practical (for the person who is doing it) when learned by yourself. IMHO, your better off just setting aside a day or so to get the fundamentals of it down, then set aside the the rest of your life perfecting it. I do it everyday just as a flourish to people. I find little tips and tricks everyday, weather it be for different surrounding's, different lighting techniques and so on. that's my two cents worth.

RJ,
That sounds like a cool move. Where did you learn it? Do you have any uses for it yet? |

Shoot Ogawa goes over the placement and mechanics of the muscle pass on his "Busters DVD series, vol. 3". I don't think it's released yet, except at his lecture... but it's a great DVD. And who better to learn the mp from than a guy who's helped pioneer its use?

I did a detailed lesson for the Virtual Sessions, which goes over some points that I've not seen anywhere else and includes a training programme that will help to improve anyone's pass.
Take care, Ian |

I you mean the last phase of daniel garcia's routine called "quarters" that requires the muscles pass I may be able to help you out.
you have received from the other members plenty of sources to study the muscle pass. I have a good muscle pass but I do not use it. I use something that I find to be more efficient for the effect you are trying to achieve. feel free to PM me if you are interested. good luck! -Matt
