I will be attending a magic auction soon and "Blasted" was one of the effects that will be up for sale.I do not know much about this effect but it sounds interesting. Does anyone know anything about this coin trick?

It's available in two versions: Blasted and Blasted Jr. I bought Blasted many years ago and I found it to be a most entertaining and magical effect. The effect is that you show two half-dollar sized contrasting coins, a round brass tray, and a clear wine goblet. One of the coins in placed on the tray and the goblet inverted and placed on the tray, thus trapping the coin inside. The other coin held in the fingers is made to visibly penetrate the goblet and join the other coin inside. The sudden appearance of the coin inside alongside the other coin is dramatic and very visual. The method is unique and clever.
Blasted Jr. is the same using smaller coins and an opaque small cover is used instead of the goblet. |

George, what is the logic for the second coin in the routine?

spiral-stares:
Sent you a PM over the answer on your question regarding the second coin since it meant revealing the secret to the effect. Can't devulge any methods in the open forum, even though practically all who visit the site are magicians of some sort. |

Is this like John Kennedy's Energised Coin?If yes, then it is sooooooooooooooooo visual.
You also "hear" the coin penetrate. Ivan PS: check out John Kennedy's website at http://www.johnkennedymagic.com

actually, was wondering what the logic you gave the spectators for the other coin (the coin already in the glass) was. I figured it was necessary for the effect, but it seems superfluous for someone who could really make a coin penetrate glass, and I was wondering how it was justified to the audience.

Niva -- There's no "Energised Coin" on John Kennedy's website. Do you have any other URL for it?
Thanks, Jerry |

Sorry, but it seems they removed it. Try some sites. You will surely find it.
This one uses a glass (normal), a glass coaster, "two" coins and a playing card. I like it. Just do not give that much of attention to the second coin. If you know what I mean. You just say that the coin on top of the glass will penetrate the glass and join the other coin. Do not be guilty of using the second coin. Why?? Eugene Burger says that Magic teaches you not to be guilty. Then you may also buy "Soft Spot"(another trick) and do another penetration after you switch the card. Although this penetration is thru the card. I once found a demo of this. Ivan
