Well, that's the wrong line to take if you want to get a mention in the Ring 2100 Ring Report that is in TLR...

Honestly, I'm wondering if there's a problem with my browser. About how many different topics should I have access to there??

The online Ring2100 is NOT like the café. It is more of a digest than anything. Kind of like a daily blog.

My settings on Ring2100 are such that I receive one email daily with the posts from the previous day. It is more of a running discussion on whatever someone is talking about at that moment. If you see something that you'd like to comment on, you then add a reply.

If you'd rather, you can have a separate email sent to you each time someone makes a post but, personally, I'd rather not. I get enough emails on a daily basis as it is.

This site, however, is created with "rooms" where people can post on one site, or location, and have continued discussions on a single topic of interest without all the other "stuff" mixed in. They (the Magic Café and Ring2100) are really two totally different animals.

Hope this helps. Mark.

Paul as with all discussions it is only as exciting as those who post. 2100 has had some very spirited discussions on a broad range of topics. Many of these discussions have stemmed from simple questions. there are some great thinkers and top pros who are on the ready to get into the discussion. I too get my daily updates, read them and post replies accordingly.

This may give you a better perspective. Even though the I.B.M. has over 12,300 members it's online Ring 2100 has only about 800 participates signed on.

Where the Café has over 28,000 registered members.

My conclusion is the reason the Café may not appear to you to very exciting....its the numbers. The Café has a greater number of people to draw
from. Those who post here come together due to the increased interest which I figured is the results based upon the numbers alone.

Then again it all depends upon the quality of the people who are posting and their personal interest. The secret to a good discussion board are the questions.
That's my opinion. Knowing how to ask good questions is very important skill to learn.

It's a common saying that in any club 10% of the members do 90% of the work. It's the same with Ring 2100. Out of our base membership of 800-900 (numbers vary daily as emails are added and deleted) that 10% means we have 8 or 9 consistent contributers.

Ring 2100 isn't a website, it's an email mailing list. We were formed before most people had even heard of the Internet. It was the decision of our members to keep the email format rather than force people to go to a website forum such as this. Members contribute when they can, where they can. Some read messages from their Blackberry and other "offline" devices and answer back at their convenience.

If you're judging Ring 2100 simply by their web presence, you really haven't seen Ring 2100.

(BTW Paul, to show the diversity of our members, my favorite book at the moment is by Bart Hopkin. You're familiar with him, right?)
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
