I was wondering what are some of the things they teach you in Derren Brown's Devil's Picturebook and if it is worth buying. Thanks~

This is the most inspiring video I have watched. Forget all these sleight of hand dvd's that everybody raves about. This is true quality. It's 3 hours long and contains some of the best effects you can imagine. The guy's a legend

Since you have posted this in the beginners section I am assuming you are a beginner. This video is not for the beginner. I would recommend you master books like Royal Road to Card magic, Expert Card Technique, Expert at the Card Table, etc., before trying things out on this vid. On the other hand, I have heard it will be soon sold out so snap it up quickly for later use. Once you have good knowledge on sleights and misdirection then this video is absolutely amazing.
Hope this helps Dan |

Danny is quite right. You should also be warned that Derren doesn't show you how to do anything that he does in his TV shows. So if that's what you are looking for you won't find it there.
What you will find is a very gifted cardician at the very top of his game. |

By the way - according to Derren's site all PAL videos (UK) are sold and only a few NTSC tapes are left!
If anyone has the PAL version for sale or trade please PM me Regards Bilz

Just wondering, is this stuff only for the advanced card worker?
Right now I only own 2 card video's, ninja from ellusionist(bought as a gift) and PM from dante king, but I am looking to get Ammar's video's and card college, but does anyone recommend getting devil's picturebook first? Are the tricks and presentation tips good enough to be a main part of my learning proccess? |

McGyver - yes this is advanced. Most of the stuff on it is difficult and more to the point, much of it requires strong misdirection skills. There are some bold moves which your average card man won't be able to pull off.
The mental stuff (about 1/2 the tape) requires a strong personality and balls. I wouldn't say it is a good tape for a beginner |

Does it teach much misdirection on this tape?

Really excellent video, but not one for the beginner. I don't think it's available any longer anyway.
There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary numbers, and those who don't.

As a reply to "Does it teach much misdirection on this tape?"
Not really he just goes through what he does to create misdirection. This is suited to his personality and a beginner might be tempted to copy it and it would not work. |

Well I decided to order it!
I might not watch it right away, i'll save it for when i'm ready, but I don't want them to sell out so when I finally want to learn from it its out of print! |
