I ran across this at http://www.martinbreese.com.

It sounds like a great routine but I'd like an in-the-trenches review to be sure the handling is smooth and the gizmo can stand up to a lot of use.

You can PM me if you'd like.

Tnx

Hi, Dusty. Talk about going straight to the source!

Actually, a careful re-reading of the effect (and some serious thought) answered most of my initial questions. I think your routine is a real winner and is on my to-order list (after the Christmas bills are paid off!) But, since you're here, I do have two very minor questions.

Does the electronic device use standard batteries (I'm not sure why I dislike those little watch batteries. I'll use 'em but I hate 'em!)

And, second, are replacement boxes easy to come by? I imagine they might get tattered after a while and the box in the photo looks to be special-made.

There, that shouldn't reveal too much. Thanks very much for responding, Dusty. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your jumping in here!

A Happy New Year to you!

Aaron,
Thanks for the interest. Firstly, the pizza box provided is actually only used to deliver you the props. I purchased these to facilite ease of packaging. What the specatator assumes is a pizza box beneath the cloth is actually the clock still in its own box! (Remember there is no pizza:) All of the clocks I have come across come in a square box!

Could you use a real pizza box? Of course you could, they are easily obtained on line or from your local pizza house, they may even sponsor the trick!

Now for the power; Yes you could use a AA battery BUT 1.5 volts will not power the clock and the LED. So I used a special AA battery holder to accommodate 2 x 1.5 button cells (easilly obtained and changed) the 3 volts generated runs both elements. I wanted the LED to be visible (to the performer only). This gives you confidence that the clock is actually activated. (Should you need to revert to a AA battery in an emergency, the changeover would take 30 seconds!

As Hocus Pocus have reduced "It's Pizza Time" in their January Sale Offer to $110+ postage. I will make them available to Café members for £50 inc postage (UK only)
For any order placed by 31st January.

Hope this answers any questions you may have.

Dusty,

Thanks for the info! I had to laugh about the box, I forgot you plainly say in the routine that there is no pizza as you introduce the clock. And, yes, I've seen the clocks here in their own square boxes.

Sigh, I knew there'd be button cells but I understand how LEDs need three volts to work brightly. You do what it takes to do the job!

Thank you, too, for your generous offer to Café members this month. I hope any others who take you up on it live far away from me! ;-)

Best,
Aaron

I think it looks pretty cool. I think it could be made into something really good with some work. I might buy it. It's something I haven't seen anyone else doing.

...I think Max has already 'made it into something really good' - and before making such a sweeping statement you need to know exactly what the gimmick is and how it works.

The effect is NOT simply a 'your time matches my time' prediction, read the Ad. copy again.

I just received It's Pizza Time and overall I like the effect. I can see where it will play well for any type audience. My only objection is that for the price ($175.00,I paid a whole lot less) Max should have included the little extra special gimmick needed. It is not an expensive item (usually $12-15.00)to include but when one purchases an effect one should not have to purchase another effect in order to make the routine work. I had the added extra effect needed for this and it is a minor gripe but I think a legitimate one. After all one does not buy a car then have to buy the battery to make the car start. As I say it is a minor gripe and overall the effect is solid and useful. I would give it a 7 out of 10. It would have gotten an 8 or 9 if it included the extra gimmick. I sometimes see this on E-Bay for a starting price of $50.00
