I never like the TT method and I have seen very few perform the TT switch without it appearing awkward (that is not to say that there are not people who do perform it flawlessly). Anyone who has ever performed the TT version and/or has watched others perform the switch, know about that moment where you are hiding not only an extra bill but the TT in your hand. Your eyes can't help but focus behind the bill that audience sees. it is just awkward and the audience feels it. While they see nothing, it still feels awkward, and then this moment is followed up with another strange moment when you shove the bill back in the TT. It always just seems like something more is happening then they see. which is true.
With the tipless method. You only have to Hide one thing...that pretty much hides itself. Not to mention, the tipless method can happen in half the time.

My vote is for the "Front Row Sankey" DVD. Not only do you learn the bill switch using a TT, but you also get a lot of other interesting routines including "Fan mail" (great effect with a TT).

What can I say, but Michael Ammar's Classic Renditions. Can't find a better DVD to teach you the switch. As far as I'm concerned its the best. I perform it exactly as taught on the DVD. It never fails to fry people. I also agree that "Switch" by John Lovick is an excellent source for learing a good routine.

Has Sankey ever published something that DOESN'T include Koslowski's TT switch? lol
...and a dozen ways to use it? |

Fingertips pt. 1 by Eric Jones has a nice one. Fairly simple in execution and the best part is you are clean before the magic even happens. It will fool magicians because there is no tell tale TT moves and your thumbs are shown normal size lol. Definately check it out

Hi Pete.
You mentioned earlier that,"... either way you are left with something to get rid of... THINK ABOUT IT." The TT, while not invisible, is flesh colored and less likely to be seen than a blackish green, palmed bill. When I drop the changed bill in thier hands the attention is on the bill. My thumb is pointed straight at them. They do briefly glance at my hands, see them empty and then their eyes go back to the bill. Also, the TT is easier for me to ditch in my pants pocket than a folded bill. Just a matter of preference. |

A new DVD with Ben Salinas is out called the Reserve. It is 20 dollars and covers many different switching techniques it is the most comprehensive collection of switches on DVD.

I would say, without reservation, that the BEST bill switching routine that I have ever seen or heard of was done by the late Johnny Paul. And he did not use a TT -- and you never knew just when the work was done... it was seamless and baffling, even to knowledgable magicians.
And Jay Marshall, not known as a sleight-of-hand guy, did the switch san TT as well and in his hands it was a fooler. I don't know if it is still here in the archives, but in Secret Sessions (a year or more ago) I put up a routine called the Billion Dollar Bill Switch, where (for magicians) you showed the TT empty and let the viewer hold it. The switch was done in a totally different way. I devised this as a challenge to fool the guys in my club that used a TT.

There's a basic, no-dialogue visual explanation of the bill switch on Jay Sankey's "45" video.
There is a very good explanation of a bill switch using the TT in Gary Darwin's "Encyclopedia of TT Magic" DVD set. Beyond the bill switch, that is an absolute must-have set for anyone using a TT regularly. The recent Magic Makers release, "The Reserve" with Ben Salinas is an excellent source to learn various bill switches. ...And it specifically covers the mis-made bill. Any of those would be great, visual sources to learn the bill switch with a TT. |

Without question, the best TEACHING resource is Kevin King's Money Morph. He really works you through the switch so that if you spend time on it, the result is an incredibly smooth exchange. It's a DVD.

My thoughts are just that it would be easier to see the dupe than a TT.
Especially the way I do it with maximum exposure of my empty hands. I'm sure I may be missing something about the non-TT switches but that's OK. |
