Ok, so I've seen it done over and over and it works. Barry from Barry's magic shop through in this effect as a "thank you" for my business and I have read the instructions.
The thing is, I can see how it might fail. In fact, I've done it on myself and made it fail, but the way if failed could be easily duplicated by the random moving around of the cards. I know I have to be missing something here... Posted: Jan 4, 2007 3:23pm Oh, I suppose PM's are best so as not to expose the workings. Either that or we can ask that this thread be moved elsewhere... Posted: Jan 12, 2007 12:13pm Hmmm, either nobody knows it, or I really am dense... |

Jim,
Never heard of it, so you are not dense (not yet anyway) Rennie
The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

Jim,
Who is the author/creator of this trick? Is it a homegrown Barry special? Thanks, D.T.3 |

It's Al Bach's, He did a lecture at Barry's a few months ago.

The instructions say "From an Idea by Bob Hummer." I'll be at Barry's this afternoon for a while. If I can remember, I'll talk with him about it.
Thanks Jim |

Jim,
I'll pass this along to Al Bach. He and I have developed several tricks together. Unfortunately that isn't one of them. I believe Mind Over Monte is actually Tim Felix's from Midwest Magic (or at least his version of the effect). Tim handles our stuff and Al sells Tim's effect at his lectures. Jack Skalon

Jack, thanks for the correction, I saw Al perform it when he lectured but I never saw the write-up giving the correct credit, my mistake.

Not a problem. Al remembers you and says HI. How are things going for the shop?
