I have read that the Mike Finney rope routine is a great one. Can someone please give me an idea of what it is like.

Hi Al:
It's a real simple routine. I believe Michael does the cut and restored segment twice, and finishes up with the Panama Rope routine from Tarbell. Really, nothing new as far as rope moves go, but it's easily my favorite rope routine ever. It is the funniest rope routine I've ever seen. Michael's routine is on the L&L Publishing "World's Greatest Magic - Professional Rope Routines" DVD on rope magic. It's also on his own DVD series. It is referred to as the "Lady Rope Routine" because he always uses a woman - you would not want to do the routine with another man, Al. Ron |

Ron & Joe thanks
That is what I wanted to find out. There are so many cut, and restore versions you must choose carefully. I do the Shigeo Takagi version, which is all I need. His trick is not funny, but it will fool a magician, so unlike the tricks I usually do on this one I'm going for astonishing rather than funny. Al Angello

Finney would be funny without cutting the rope. It's all him.

Hi Al.
The Finney's routine uses quite a bit of rope. Unless you have an endless supply of rope, do it on special ocassions. By the way, did you ever find the rope supply for me? Richard |

Al,
The Finney rope routine is on his Tahoe and L&L's Rope Magic DVDs. I have seen it live and it kills. His bits of funny business are masterful. David W. |

Got to see Finney do that routine live twice in one day. I laughed like crazy both times. He is one funny guy. I think one of his best gifts is the ability to get the most out of his volunteer.

Hey Joe thank you very much. It sure is something when you place a name with a face. I have seen Michael many times, but I did not know his name.

Al,
Not sure where Collegeville is located (I don't have a map nearby at the moment) but if you are able to get to Columbus, Ohio on Feb 2, Michael is MC'ing the Headliner show for the Columbus Magi-Fest. I have seen Mike MC a show before and he is very good. He will be staying at the hotel the whole weekend and is absolutely one of the most approachable people I have ever met. I have seen him sit in a restaurant and walk people through the moves of the rope routine. It might be worth the drive to learn it from the best. Michael |

Thanks for the invite, but I'm booked that weekend. Let me see Michael Finney Fri. night, and Aldo Colombini Sat. night, man you should have gotten some big names.
Al Angello PS- I live near Philadelphia a mere 500 miles away from Columbus.

You can find it in Fulve's Self working Rope Magic (p47), in Ency. of Rope Tricks (p115,6), and I believe in Daryl's DVD on Rope Magic (volume 3 I think) John
