Hey everyone! I was just curious, who here will be attending the CAM convention this year? And out of those, who will be competing, and what will you be competing in.
I also have a question about contest registration. They say that only the first 10 competitors will be accepted, on a first come basis, so I want to send out the forms as quickly as possible. BUT, I also have to send out an act sheet describing what I will be doing. My dillema (sp?) is that I want this to be an award winning act. I cant just throw an act together in a few days. Is it possible to send them the contest registration and give them the act sheet later? Thanks for the help guys and gals. |

I saw Aldo Colombini and Adran James at the IBM convention in Miami last summer. They are very entertaining. And Tony Chapek is certainly quite an act to see. And I have heard great things about Juan Tamariz. Should be fun! So, who is planning on competing?

I don't think I'll compete, unless my elaborate new coin routine (which is just a theory right now) is perfected by the summer. Anyhow, I've never felt comfortable performing for other magicians.

Cory,
Unless you are competing in the Stage category, no act sheet is needed. I'll be there, (not defending my title), but there nonetheless. I hope to see you all very soon. Ben |

Ben, this is in the contsest application form, at the bottom:
"ALL APPLICANTS: For EACH contest you wish to compete in you MUST submit an Act Sheet. Include time, effects, type of microphone (stage only) whether music will be used, ALL pyrotechnic devices and other details you think it may be important for the stage committee to know. Please print or type all information. Please include this application, separate Act Sheets for each contest you wish to compete in, and a video tape if performing on stage and send the entire package to:" Then it has Joan Caesars contact info. So apparently even the close-up competitors need act sheets. I just have to get it done soon, before it is too late. How many competitors where there in youth close up last convention? |

Cory,
I think the act sheet is only to help the people organizing it. If you put down a rough idea, and then tell them any changes as time goes on, I'm sure that would be fine. If you want to know for sure, just email Joan. I know I didn't need one last convention. Ben |

Ya, that's what I was thinking about. Didn't you only decide to compete like 2 weeks before the convention? It said something like that in your newspaper article.

I'm seriously considering attending the convention, if for no other reason to see Juan Tamariz. Coming from the states, though, I'm not sure how much I can put towards lodging with the travel expenses I'll have.
