I am working on a routine that involves a story in which a person's dying breath is caught in a bottle. Without going into detail, I will need several identical and interesting bottles. They need to look fairly old. Does anyone have any ideas for a good possible source?
Thanks, Dave |

When you mention that they need to be "old looking" are you looking for something that appears as if it were from the long past, or an apothecary jar, or? I know that the places like Pier One and Crate and Barrel both have a lot of odd looking stuff, blue glass, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. In answer to your question, they don't have to look ancient, but must pass for maybe 100 years old. I am not familiar with Crate and Barrel, but will try Pier One. Thanks again,

Large chain craft stores (we have Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Jo Ann Fabrics where I live) sometimes have old-looking bottles that are used in craft projects.
Cost Plus World Market is also a possibility. I have also found interesting bottles at a store that sells "collectable stuff". Your requirement of several indentical bottles makes this job more difficult.

Thanks Bill,
I have found a number of old, very cool bottles at flea markets and antique shops. The need for identical bottles is what brought up the question. Thanks again, Dave |

I have an Uncle who drinks cheap wines and wiskeys often. Though I do not pertake of these vices (And do not judge any who do)Many of these bottles are quite odd looking and you could get many that look alike.
However If you become a AA member becuse of this I am total not responsible. Most magically yours, WR

Here's some ideas:
http://www.essentialsupplies.com/ look under glass--the amber bottles have an older look. http://www.specialtybottle.com/ Also ebay is an idea--but if you want ones to look similar--maybe getting a whole bunch of amber ones would be good. Ellen harryandersonfan.com [outdated link] |

In the event that you need to embellish upon your storyline, it is part the the Thomas Edison legend that his dying breath was caught in a jay. I believe this the inspiration date behind a story by Tim Powers, "Expiration Date".

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input.
Rob, the Edison info is a good tip. It won't work for this routine, but who knows when you might want to do a different variation of it. Thanks again, Dave |
