What's the law in Vegas concerning busking?

Essentially, "don't".

There are exceptions, though. They have a street festival called "First Friday" where they allow buskers, but you have to register first. The Fremont Street Experience doesn't allow any freelance performers, but you can audition and see if you can get hired to perform there.

Otherwise, there are various indoor shopping venues where, again, you must either apply or audition for a spot. Alladin's "Desert Passage" is one, there may be others.

I'm sure that, just like many places in Las Vegas, the "Old Boys" network is in full swing. If you don't know somebody, your chances are slim to none in getting in.

Gazzo moved here last year; left for more lucrative venues after just a few months. If he couldn't do it...

There's plenty of work, just not freelance on the streets.

Scott, I think you could clean up there. I don't think you would have too much trouble getting all the "inside" work you could handle.

Best,

Dan-

Just to add to what Dave and Danny have said, when I was there a year or more ago, I met a guy who had no experience in doing shows, and he had been hired to do some high-paying gigs. He was in a crash course to raise his levels rapidly, so he could do the jobs he was hired for. I recall him saying that there was a lot of work there, and it showed by people hiring him for larger jobs with no experience. He said he was perfectly clear that he wasn't experienced, professionally, when he interviewed, and they still hired him.

In talking with him, I got the impression there was a ton of work out there, as Dave and Danny have indicated.

Well, it's not street performing, but it may be fun. Good to see you, Danny. It just dried up around now on the college market. My next show isn't until mid-February. At any rate, Chicago is dead for magic...

I'm sure you all know the horror of street performing here.

I love street performing in Chicago...had great days and fat hats, and the Mexican food was awesome.

How about the Taste of Chicago? Have you tried it, lately? Some kid got stabbed, so now the only place we can perform is Michigan Avenue....

I love Michigan Ave....fat hats...LOVE IT! I'm going to go back maybe this summer for a few weeks if I get time. I didn't go last year, but I did the year before and had a blast... However, I hate Taste of Chicago...no way will I work that thing again.

I remember the Taste is as close to corporate street performing as I've seen. I'm just getting restless not working this month. I go from a sea of corporate shows in December to 3 in January, and one of those is a freebie for a children's hospital.

I love summer here, 'cause you can perform. Too bad winters are so bitter.

What about Fremont Street in Las Vegas?
I heard you can work there, but I don't know. I haven't tried Vegas yet, but a lot of my friends said it's good with no permit....not true?

I hear the casinos have the ultimate say in what's entertainment on Fremont. Downtown Vegas seems golden, though.

Fremont Street Experience is a corporation. You can work there, but you have to do some paperwork first and get approved.

It doesn't have info directly related to performing on this site, but that should help point you in the right direction to ask questions.
